It is one of the three most populous cities in Western China, the other two being Chongqing and Xi'an. As of 2014, the administrative area houses 14,427,500 inhabitants, with an urban population of 10,152,632. At the time of the 2010 census, Chengdu was the 5th-most populous agglomeration in China, with 10,484,996 inhabitants in the built-up area including Xinjin County and Deyang's Guanghan City.     Sichuan University is a university in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province, China. It has a long history and many predecessors, of which the earliest one was founded in 1740 with the origin in BCE 141. It was transformed to be a modern university in 1920s and the name National Sichuan University was adopted in 1931. Sichuan University is one of the national universities directly under the Ministry of Education . It is also one of the State 211 Project and 985 Project universities enjoying privileged construction in the Ninth Five-Year Plan period, and is a Chinese Ministry of Education Class A Double First Class University.
