Polar bear attacks woman in Chukotka
A group of polar bears-cannibals have attacked a small town Cape Schmidt in Region Chukotka in Russia's Far East. Witnesses insist one person was eaten alive -- and have pictures of her picked-over remains. Meanwhile, more attacks are reported to have taken place.

Polar Bear Killed A Man In The Chukotka Region, Three Bears Shot In Response To.
Posted On Saturday, August 20, 2011.
Three young polar bears have appeared in the small town Cape Schmidt in Region Chukotka several days ago and settled in a former pigsty. Around 23:00 on Friday Ettuvge Stanislaw (born in 1979) was directed to work in the boiler room and went straight through the coal depot, where he was attacked by three white bear , -- told Chatterbox. On Saturday, law enforcement officers shot and killed three bears: the bear that killed a man and a bear cub, which was directed to the village, said the official. However, the two bears living in the pigsty, escaped from the town. Polar bears do not have to be in towns and in contact with people. Currently, there are effective means of deterrence of polar bears and, of course, places like Cape Schmidt and other localities along the Arctic coast of Chukotka should be provided with such means. When polar bears are in the town -- this is an emergency situation , -- says the Chatterbox. Unfortunately, a few days was not taken the necessary measures for the expulsion of dangerous animals out of the settlement, he added.
A horrifying video shows polar bears attacking people in a small town in Russia's Chukotka Autonomous Region. The bears appeared to be living in abandoned houses and were roaming the town in small groups of five. At the end of August, the animals were chased away from the town, but not before local people had endured a living hell at the hands of the unwelcome guests.
This video shows a young woman, apparently drunk and on the point of relieving herself near an abandoned house. Suddenly, a bear attacks. Passersby shouts to the girl to run away. Then they start throwing bottles at the bear in the hope of saving the girl's life. It works -- the bear runs off and leaves his victim alive, though badly injured.

In Flight Scenery - Northwest Territories Canada and Alaska USA
The Northwest Territories (NWT; French: les Territoires du Nord-Ouest, TNO) is a territory of Canada. With a population of 41,462 in 2011 and an estimated population of 43,537 in 2013, the Northwest Territories is the most populous territory in Northern Canada.[6][8] Yellowknife became the territorial capital in 1967, following recommendations by the Carrothers Commission.
The Northwest Territories, a portion of the old North-West Territory, entered the Canadian Confederation July 15, 1870, but the current borders were formed April 1, 1999, when the territory was subdivided to create Nunavut to the east, via the Nunavut Act and the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement Act.[9][10] While Nunavut is mostly Arctic tundra, the Northwest Territories has a slightly warmer climate and is mostly boreal forest (taiga), although portions of the territory lie north of the tree line, and its most northern regions form part of the Canadian Arctic Archipelago.
The Northwest Territories are bordered by Canada's two other territories, Nunavut to the east and Yukon to the west, and by the provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan to the south.

Although it had been occupied for thousands of years by indigenous peoples, from the 18th century onward, European powers considered the territory of Alaska ripe for exploitation and trade. The United States purchased Alaska from the Russian Empire on March 30, 1867, for 7.2 million U.S. dollars at approximately two cents per acre ($4.74/km²). The area went through several administrative changes before becoming organized as a territory on May 11, 1912. It was admitted as the 49th state of the U.S. on January 3, 1959.[5]

Smelt Fishing Contest in Chukotka=Корфест
If there is one persistent stereotype about the United States Foreign Service, it is that the work revolves around cocktail parties and high flown negotiations. Well, sometimes diplomats break the ice the old fashioned way, as U.S. Consul General Tom Armbruster demonstrates from Chukotka, Russia. Chukotka is just across the Bering Strait from Alaska, and the people on both sides of the strait share a rich cultural heritage. In promoting cross-border trade and exchange, CG Armbruster took part in an annual smelt fishing contest on the ice just outside Anadyr, Chukotkas capital. Have a look and see if he catches the big one.
