The county was named after the Native Americans living in the area, the Clackamas Indians, who were part of the Chinookan people. Mount McLoughlin is a steep-sided stratovolcano, or composite volcano, in the Cascade Range of southern Oregon and within the Sky Lakes Wilderness. It is one of the volcanic peaks in the Cascade Volcanic Arc, within the High Cascades sector. A prominent landmark for the Rogue River Valley, the mountain is north of Mount Shasta, and Crater Lake lies to the northwest. The McLoughlin Promenade is a scenic pathway located on Singer Hill Bluff, on the southeast bank of the Willamette River overlooking Oregon City in the U.S. state of Oregon. It was constructed 1936–1939 on land once inhabited by the Molala and other indigenous peoples. Named after Oregon pioneer John McLoughlin who donated his personal real estate for the purpose of a city promenade, the design and implementation of it was part of a joint public works effort between Oregon and the United States government. The pathway courses 100 feet above Oregon City and features the Grand Staircase and the man-made Singer Creek Falls. Lighting was added by the local Kiwanis club in 1972, and the Lee Kelly Moontrap bas-relief addition at the bottom of the falls was sponsored by the Rotary Club in 2011.

Mirror Lake is a mountain lake in Clackamas County of the U.S. state of Oregon. It is located at the foot of Tom Dick and Harry Mountain in a natural catchment formed by a toe of the mountain, 11.4 kilometers (7.1 mi) southwest of Mount Hood, and 3.1 kilometers (1.9 mi) WSW of Government Camp within Mount Hood National Forest.

It is among the most popular day hikes in the Mount Hood area,[2] and a popular Nordic skiing destination. Its 800-foot (240 m) elevation gain in 1.4 miles (2.3 km) is considered an easy hike.

Oregon City was established at Willamette Falls on the Willamette River in 1829 by John McLoughlin for the Hudson's Bay Company, to utilize the power of the falls to operate a lumber mill. In 1844, Oregon City became the first incorporated city west of the Rocky Mountains, and was considered the final stop of the Oregon Trail. The Oregon City Bridge, designed by Conde B. McCullough, is a steel half-through arch structure constructed in 1922 (although it appears to be a concrete arch due to the gunite concrete coating over the steel arch members).

CLACKAMAS RIVER. We traveled to Clackamas, Oregon and decided to hike off trail along the Clackamas river. We went swimming in the freezing Clackamas river. Also when you are adventuring off trail it is very important to always bring a rope, and in this video you can see why!

The Willamette Falls is a natural waterfall on the Willamette River between Oregon City and West Linn, Oregon, in the United States. It is the largest waterfall in the American Pacific Northwest by volume and the seventeenth widest in the world.[1] Horseshoe in shape, it is 1,500 feet (460 m) wide and 40 feet (12 m) high with a flow of 30,849 cu ft/s (874 m³/s), located 26 miles (42 km) upriver from the Willamette's mouth.
