1. Babcock State Park Clifftop
Babcock State Park is a state park located along the New River Gorge on 4,127 acres wooded in Fayette County, West Virginia. It is located approximately 20 miles away from the New River Gorge Bridge. Located near the park headquarters, the Glade Creek Grist Mill is commonly photographed. It was named in honor of Edward V. Babcock. Completed in 1976 by combining parts of three other West Virginia mills, it is a replica of the original Cooper's Mill that was located nearby. The park's web site describes the Glade Creek Grist Mill as a living, working monument to the more than 500 mills that used to be located throughout the state.

This large arts and crafts facility is run as an economic development project of the West Virginia Parkways Authority and sells West Virginia craft products, such as wood, glass, textiles, pottery, metal, jewelry, as well as specialty food items, fine art, and West Virginia books and recordings. The park also includes the former company town of Cass and a portion of the summit of Bald Knob, highest point on Back Allegheny Mountain.

Babcock State Park is just minutes from our Cabins at Opossum Creek Retreat in Lansing across the New River Gorge Bridge from Fayetteville WV. Babcock is open year round however some areas are closed in the winter.

Regarding this video... I first saw these cliffs from afar back in 1994 and have always wanted to photograph from them. They are difficult to reach as there is no trail. This was my first visit to them and now I'm happy to share the views with you. Endured lots of rain and fog in the wilderness for this image. You will not see this view photographed elsewhere. Filmed March 15th and 16th, 2016 in the Allegheny Mountains.
