Hi there! My name is Jen and I am the founder and writer of World On A Whim, the Perfectionist's Guide to Spontaneous Travel. While my blog focuses on international travel, I am starting school in Los Angeles and will therefore not be able to travel abroad quite as much. Therefore, I decided to curate a Day in LA each week so that we can all enjoy our free time and have adventures in this glorious city. And of course I will share my travels outside of LA with you as well :)

Walking Around Baeza in Spain Visiting Its UNESCO World Heritage Sites
If you are planning a trip to Andalucia, please read my detailed article with various destinations:
I drove to Baeza in the north of Andalucia during a four day road trip around the province.
Baeza is a little over one hour away from Granada and offers some spectacular architectural heritage to the visitor.
Baeza is a UNESCO World Heritage City with a stunning medieval city center, showcasing some beautiful renaissance and gothic architecture.
During my visit I was accompanied by Maria Antonia Vargas Torres, a tour guide from the local area.
She was very helpful and gave a lot of insight into the city’s history, including its old university, the cathedral and the main square.
The cathedral bears the coat of arms of many magnificent kings, such as Charles the Fifth, holy roman emperor.
Unfortunately the weather was not perfect, but we still had a great time walking around this ancient city of Andalucia.
Although Granada is much bigger and has the Alhambra, my personal opinion is that Baeza was just as interesting and with far fewer tourists.
Nearby Ubeda is also as impressive, so if you visit Granada make sure to come up here if time allows.
Los Cahorros Walking Trail Sierra Nevada, Monachil, Granada, Spain
Monachil is a small village located 8 km from Granada. It is also a starting point for Los Cahorros – Hanging bridges walk.
This walk is perfect for families, hikers, nature lovers or anyone who enjoys spending time outdoors. Walk along the river, cross several hanging bridges, check out the amazing views, take photos of waterfalls, have a closer look at Moorish acequias (irrigation system) …
Note: Take plenty of water with you, a hat and sunblock. To walk up and back down the same route took us about 2.5 hours (we did take a lot of photos on our way). If you are planning on going with small kids, you will more likely need more than 3 hours.
Location: 18193 Monachil, Granada, Spain
