The Costa de la Luz is a section of the Andalusian coast in Spain facing the Atlantic; it extends from Tarifa in the south, along the coasts of the Province of Cádiz and the Province of Huelva, to the mouth of the Guadiana River. A popular destination for vacationing Spaniards, in recent years the Costa de la Luz has become more popular with foreign visitors, especially the French and the Germans. Increasing urbanization and tourism-oriented development of parts of the coast have had economic benefits but these trends have also ignited fevered real-estate speculations and some environmental degradation.

Cádiz Cathedral is a Roman Catholic church in Cádiz, southern Spain, and the seat of the Diocese of Cadiz y Ceuta. It was built between 1722 and 1838. The cathedral was declared Bien de Interés Cultural in 1931.The Plaza de la Catedral houses both the Cathedral and the Baroque Santiago church, built in 1635. The church was known as The Cathedral of The Americas because it was built with money from the trade between Spain and America. The 18th century was a golden age for Cádiz, and the other cathedral that the city had got, Santa Cruz, was very small for this new moment of Cádiz. The new cathedral was built from 1722 to 1838. Playa de la Barrosa is a 6 kilometres long beach in the municipality of Chiclana de la Frontera, Province of Cádiz, Spain. It was the site of the Battle of Barrosa in 1811. it is separated from the Playa de Sancti Petri by a cliff. The resort of Novo Sancti Petri lies at the south end of Playa de la Barrosa and contains a defensive tower structure called Torre Bermeja. Several pieces of music have been composed about the beach including Isaac Albéniz's Torre Bermeja and Paco de Lucía's La Barrosa.

Bolonia is a coastal village and beach in the municipality of Tarifa in the Province of Cadiz in southern Spain. It is located on the Atlantic shore, 22.9 kilometres by road west of Tarifa, but is much closer in terms of coastal distance. The beach and bay is also known as Playa de Bolonia , Ensenada de Bolonia , or Bolonia Bay. The ruins of the Roman town of Baelo Claudia are located near the beach, considered to be the most complete Roman town ruins yet uncovered in Spain. The beach is about 3.8 kilometres in length, with an average width of about 70 metres . In 2011 it had a population of 117 people.

The Andalucía Masters is a golf tournament on the European Tour. It was first played in 2010 at the Valderrama Golf Club in Sotogrande, Spain. It is played at the same location as the former Volvo Masters. The 2012 competition was cancelled, only a month before the event was due to start, as the new local government wished to cut costs. The event did not return until 2017, when it was hosted by 2011 champion Sergio García, who had hosted the Open de España at the same venue in 2016.

The playa de Los Lances is a beach that forms one side of the town of Tarifa, in the region of Campo de Gibraltar in Andalusia, Spain. The beach is 7,250 metres long from Punta de la Peña to Punta de Tarifa, with an average width of 120 metres . It is usually differentiated into two zones: North Los Lances, an undeveloped beach away from main population center, and South Los Lances, very close to the town of Tarifa and with extensive human occupation. The Río Jara separates the two areas of the beach. Los Lances' location on the Atlantic side of the Strait of Gibraltar creates unique wind conditions which have made it Europe's foremost destination for kitesurfing. Costa de la Luz - Spain's best surfing area

The Costa del la Luz in Andalucía is a beautiful natural coastline, far removed from its grown-up neighbour, the Costa del Sol.

The Costa de la Luz stretches from Tarifa, located at the southern tip of Spain – where the Atlantic meets the Mediterranean, heads north and northwest along the coast to Cádiz and Huelva, finishing at the mouth of the Guadiana River.

Although it is a quite popular destination, it is not as touristic as the Costa del Sol. This makes for quiet beaches and an authentic Spanish atmosphere. It has a couple of nature reserves and great golf courses, but it's main attraction are the water sports. The area around Cádiz is even called Cadizfornia (a take on the popular surfing destination California). You don't know how to (wind/kite) surf? There are plenty of schools that offer cheap classes.

Beach Trip Spain - Rota Beach - The Best of Our Costa de la Luz Road Trip

A spotlight on the city of Rota, Spain, which sits across the bay from Cadiz, the launching point for Christopher Columbus' expedition all those years ago.

Rota is a charming little fishing village with a fantastic beach and excellent choices for food, hotels and beach bars.

In our last video, we set off from Portugal, rolled across the border to Spain and hit a few beaches along the Spanish Costa de la Luz en route to Tarifa - it's worth checking out that video and visiting Tarifa if you are ever out that way, as it's some of the finest beach water I've ever experienced. The windy point into the Straits of Gibraltar make the waves come back on you, too. Just awesome.

Back to this video, where we arrive at Rota and head straight to the Hotel Playa de la Luz before heading into town for dinner. The next morning we wake up to a fantastic beach day. After a morning walk on the beach, we roll into town for lunch and then hit the beach near the Hotel Duque de Najera, sister hotel to the Hotel Playa de la Luz.

We enjoy the beach for a little while, stroll through town, check out the old castle and then call it a day.

Costa Tropical - The alternative to Costa del Sol

The Costa Tropical of Granada province is particularly picturesque beachside, more relaxed, with a perfect sub-tropical climate.

Although it is not as widely known as the Costa del Sol, many tourists are starting to head east towards Costa Tropical, where they can enjoy a taste of traditional Spain with it small charming fishing villages and white mountain villages.

Spain's Costa de la Luz holds some of the country's and Europe's finest beaches, including Tarifa - where sparkling water and subtle breezes make for an enjoyable day.

In this photo montage put to music, we bounce from Rota, Spain to Cadiz, Canos de Meca and a few favorites of mine - Barbate beach and Tarifa.

Crystal clear water, smooth, soft sand and a desire for the good life made for an historic day for us as we travelled to five beaches in a day.
