Portobello Market in West London is one of the most famous street markets in the world. It is a popular destination for Londoners and tourists alike.

Portobello Road goes straight through the heart of Notting Hill, the trendy area of London made famous by the film.

Portobello Market takes up most of what is actually more properly called Portobello Road, it stretches for around two miles, although on a crowded Saturday afternoon it takes quite a while to walk from end to end.

Portobello Road's distinctiveness does not just rely on its market. A range of communities inhabiting the street and the district contributes to a cosmopolitan and energetic atmosphere, as do the many restaurants and pubs. The architecture plays a part, too, as the road meanders and curves gracefully along most of its length.

Many of the Pubs, Antique Arcades and Streets around and about the area have exotic sounding names - few people realise that they are mostly historic, the area of Portobello was originally a farm, which was named after Puerto Bello in the Caribbean in memory of Admiral Vernon who captured the town in 1739.

Since then the area has become built up with houses, shopfronts and the street market, however pub names such as the Portobello Gold and the Portobello Star (navigation) are references to those heady seafaring days off the Spanish Main. One of the Antiques Arcades is known as the Admiral Vernon.

In more recent history, the film Notting Hill has made an alternative history in a way, people want to visit the market because it was the location of a film they have seen.
The Trellick Tower is arguably the most famous piece of council house architecture in London, if not the country. The tower of tightly packed flats, with the separate lift tower bringing people every third floor, was designed by Erno Goldfinger (who based his design on the Trellick's little sister - the Balfron Tower in east London) in 1966 for the Greater London Council. Construction was completed in 1972.

The island of San Simón is an island belonging to the San Simón archipelago , next to San Antón and other islets in the Vigo estuary , Spain . It belongs to the parish of Cesantes , in the municipality of Redondela , being one of the five places of this parish. At present it is uninhabited.
It presides over the cove of San Simón , at the inner end of the Vigo estuary , which bathes the municipalities of Redondela , Sotomayor and Vilaboa . It is linked to the island of San Antón by a bridge. The set of the two islands is 250 meters wide and 84 meters long. There are also two other small islets, San Bartolomé and San Norberto.
Throughout its history the island was used as a monastery , lazaretto , prison and home for orphaned children.
