Things to do in Hyams Beach, Jervis Bay & Eden: Melbourne to Sydney Drive
Discover the whitest sand beach in the world: Hyams Beach in Jervis Bay. The Sapphire Coast in New South Wales is an absolutely mind-blowing road trip if you're making your way from Melbourne to Sydney via the coastal route.
Did you miss Part 1 of our guide covering the best places to stop in Victoria? Watch it here:
After we said 'Sayonara' to Victoria and crossed into New South Wales, our first stop was the beautiful township of Eden, roughly a 4-hour drive from Lakes Entrance in Gippsland. From there, it's super easy to explore the vast and scenic Ben Boyd Park and the town's gorgeous beaches and coastlines.
2 days later, I've made up my mind about where I'm going to retire. Plans sorted. We then drove another 2 hours to Bermagui, which was a perfect halfway point to stretch our legs, whip out a picnic and run amuck at the stunning Blue Pool Bermagui. You absolutely have to stop here to admire and enjoy this incredible little spot and, if the weather permits, go for a dip inside.
The real stunner was Hyams Beach located in the bottom half of Jervis Bay in New South Wales. If you want to dig your feet into some of the finest and whitest sand beach in the world, then a few nights here (or even a week) is absolutely necessary. Only a 2-hour day trip from Sydney, Jervis Bay Australia is the perfect getaway from the city to get back in touch with nature. It certainly is one of the most breathtaking Sydney beaches, or probably, in all of Australia. Prove me wrong.
If Jervis Bay isn't on your Melbourne to Sydney itinerary, then you need to rejig that entire plan - right now.

2016.02.20 Honeymoon Bay NSW
Honeymoon Bay is set in a picturesque location within Jervis Bay. Approximately 10 kilometres from the edge of Currarong along the Point Perpendicular Lighthouse Road.
Currarong Beachfront Holiday Park, Currarong NSW
213. The Currarong Beachfront Holiday Park is located in Currarong near Jervis Bay in NSW.
The park backs onto a beach where we collected oysters directly from the rocks.
It's a big park with lots of fantastic facilities. There's a great camp kitchen and a kids playground guaranteed to provide lots of entertainment.
There is no pool within the park but the beach is just a few minutes walk.
It is pet friendly.
We had good Telstra and Vodafone coverage.
This is close to some amazing places including Honeymoon Bay and Gosangs Tunnel. Take the walk past Abraham Bosoms Beach to Gosangs Tunnel and explore the beaches along the walking track.
* The park may now be known as Holiday Haven Currarong online
Cost to stay is approx $40 per night, we paid $35 with our National Seniors discount.
Our stay was Feb 10th 2019
Safe travels

North Bondi 09.06.2018 - king fish school
Spearfishing report. North Bondi, 09.06.2018. Sunrise at 6:50. Got up at 5:30. Was in my car ready to leave at 6:00. Came to the destination point right to the sunrise. As usual it took some time to find a parking place :( I really like North Bondi as a dive spot but it's a pain to find a place to park your car for more than 2 hours in 400-500 meters from the drop spot. As a result I drop in the ocean at about 8. The temperature of the water was 18 degrees. Wetsuit is 5 mm. The wind was almost absent. The water surface was so smooth that I had never seen before here. Firstly I headed to the north. Swimming there I saw only reef fish: some black drummers, small morwongs and brims. In one place I saw a cuttlefish in 8 meters down from me. While I went to the bottom it hid under the rock. I decided rather to spear it but not to shoot because having 3 rubbers pulled it is absolutely insane to shoot under a rock. The rock would definitely be a grave for my shaft :) When I saw the cuttlefish closer I realized that I had underestimated the creature's size from the surface. It was huge! Definitely more than 10 kilos! The next mind told me that it is stupid to spear it, because in a moment ago it would turn out the shaft from the trigger and all 3 rubbers push the shaft immediately. I went back to the surface and released 2 rubbers. Having turned back I could not find the cuttlefish. The creature escaped somewhere and having fastened the rail gun to the buoy I went down to find the target under a rock. As soon as I returned to the surface and inhaled a portion of the fresh air I saw dozens of king fish moving toward me. 'Oh, f..., it the right time for them to appear - I have no gun in my hands and it has only one rubber...' - the thought flashed in my brain. I calmly unfastened the gun, pulled the rubbers, dived and shot one fish from the school. Having understood that the shot was accurate a minute ago I took the fish.
All this is in the video:
One hour later I returned to the spot and found there a shark:
Having taken a video of the predator I turned to the exit point.
