Fort Diu, is located on the west coast of India in Diu, a Union Territory, administered by the Government of India. The fort was built by the Portuguese during their colonial rule of the Diu island. The Diu town is located to the west of the fort.
2. Jampore Beach :
Jampore beach is one significant attraction of Daman. Situated remotely 5 kilometres away from the Moti Daman Jetty, the beach gets fame because of its blackish mud-coloured water. It is soothing just to have glimpses of the sea and is a perfect place for the ones seeking longing peace and solitude. The beach is away from the hustle of the city and is, therefore, a great place to relax.
3. The Sao Jeronimo fort :
Saint Jeronimo’s Fort is located on the north bank of the Damanganga River opposite the walls of Daman. It is an exemplary work of military architecture, and remains well preserved. The initiative to build a fortification in Nani Daman seems associated to the Mughal army’s invasion in 1611, in retaliation for the capture of a Mecca ship in Surat by Luís de Brito e Mello.

The Naida caves are located on the periphery of the Diu fort. These caves have a big network of tunnels with square hewn steps.

The St. Paul’s Church, is situated on Diu Island, on the west coast of India, a Union Territory of India. Diu came under the control of Portuguese colonists in early 16th century.

The Gangeshwar Temple is situated approximately 3 km from Diu in the old Fudam village. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and features 5 Shivalingas that are believed to have been established by the Pandavas during their exile from the kingdom. These Shivalingas are situated amidst rocks that are washed by waves continuously.
8. Pani Kotha :
Panikotha fort located in the sea, off the coast opposite to DiuFort, could be seen in the evenings. There are several cannons (some of them made of bronze appear well preserved) still seen at the top of the Diu fort. Also seen are collection of iron shells scattered around in the fort area.
9. Ghogla Beach :
Ghoghla Beach is situated in the village of Ghoghla, which is around 15 km from the main town of Diu. This beach is a popular tourist spot that has necessary facilities like food and accommodation.
10. Jalandhar Beach :
Jallandhar Beach, named after the demon Jallandhar, features a small memorial at a hill top along with a stone face structure of the demon. It is a sunny beach, which is around 1 km from Diu and houses a temple, dedicated to Goddess Chandrika.

(EN) Diu is a city in Diu district in the union territory of Daman and Diu, India. It was the location of the pivotal Battle of Diu in 1509 between Portugal and a combined force of Turkey, Egypt, Venice, the Republic of Ragusa (now known as Dubrovnik) and the then Sultan of Gujarat, Mahmud Begada.
Diu District is an island lying off the south coast of Gujarat's Kathiawar peninsula, separated from the mainland by a tidal creek. It has an area of 40 km², and a population of 44,110 (2001 census). The town of Diu lies at the eastern end of the island, and is known for its fortress and old Portuguese Cathedral. It is also a fishing town. The village of Ghoghla, which lies on the mainland opposite the eastern end of the island, is also part of the union territory. Note that in Google Maps you can find Diu with the name of Dangarvadi.
The tourist season spans September to May. Recommended clothing are cottons in summer, light woolens in winter. The languages spoken in Diu include Gujarati, English, Hindi, and Portuguese. Local transport is available from Una (Gujarat). Tourist destinations include the nearby Nagoa beach. An exciting past time is the boat ride to a light house, in the middle of the sea. There is also a very ancient Lord Shiva's Temple located on the Gangeswar coast. Old Diu has some very interesting architecture that can be seen from the island's streets. 1. Jampore Beach
This palm-shaded beach is the most enchanting beach in Daman. Here you can spend some moments of peace and quiet in the company of nature. The beach is ideal for casual swimmers as its famous for its calm waters and during low tide one can easily go further into the sea.
2. Fort Jerome
The small fort with a giant gateway facing the river with a large statue of St.Jerome and two giant human figures, on either side of the gateway encloses an area of 12250 sq.m., it is must see when you are in Daman. A place of historical importance and remembrance ever since the Portuguese were ruling this place. The fort was constructed in order to keep watch on the activities in the sea.
3. Bom Jesus Church
The construction of the church began in 1559 AD and was completed in 1603 AD. Bom Jesus Church displays its remarkable and brilliant roman styled architecture. Inside the church you will find 6 beautiful statues of the Saints. The altar of the church are carved from wood and is a fine specimen of the Portuguese artisans.
4. Diu fort
It is a calm and quiet place. The fort was built in 1535 subsequent to a defense alliance forged by Bahadur Shah, the Sultan of Gujarat and the Portuguese. A large light house is also located at one end of the fort. Even now the ruins of the walls, gateways, arches, ramps, bastions of the fort provide an impressive view.
5. Gangeshwar Temple
Here you can find 5 shivlings that lie amidst the rocks and are lulled by the tidal waves of the sea during high tides. It is believed that the Pandavas during their exile worshipped Lord Shiva here. Enjoy the beauty of nature while unraveling the history of the past.
6. Zampa Gateway
The gateway marks the entrance to the District of Diu. The construction of Zampa Gateway was done somewhere in the medieval era which is pretty evident by its unique architecture.
