Chalcis (Ancient Greek: Χαλκίς, Chalkís) or Chalkida (Modern Greek: Χαλκίδα) is the chief town of the island of Euboea in Greece, situated on the Euripus Strait at its narrowest point. The name is preserved from antiquity and is derived from the Greek χαλκός (copper, bronze), though there is no trace of any mines in the area.

Halkida, Greece - Video Tour
Sorry for bad quality footage, but I forgot my camera at home. So, I created that video with my Samsung Galaxy S4. The quality as you see it is not bad, but certainly not amazing as you've become accustomed in my other videos.

Preveza, Greece - Epirus
Preveza is a port town on the Ionian sea, part of the region of Epirus. It is known for Ancient Nicopolis, the Acheron River and the Necromanteion (Oracle of the Dead). During summer months, the port of Preveza is full of boats and yachts, while cafes are filled with people. In the picturesque streets of Preveza there are nineteenth century mansions with their remarkable architecture along with houses with insular features. The cobbled alley of Seitan Bazaar with its traditional ouzeri is a famous area in the town. Preveza is adorned with significant Christian temples, such as the churches of Agios Nikolaos and Agios Athanasios, as well as the metropolitan temple of Agios Charalambos with its exceptional paintings and the wooden carved gold-plated iconostasis. Adjacent to the church is the venetian Clock Tower, a landmark of the city, built in 1752. Greek taverns, cafes, and narrow streets portray the typical Mediterranean appearance that you would expect from an old town. The large quay with the beautiful neoclassical buildings creates the perfect setting for relaxing walks. With the combination of the nature and vegetation and the traditional taverns, a very idyllic environment is created. There are many beautiful beaches and other natural sites that one can enjoy while visiting Preveza Prefecture.

Evia, Greece - Chalkida - AtlasVisual
Evia Video Map:
Chalkida is the capital of Evia and is actually covers area both on the island and on the mainland. It is located on the west side of the island, facing the Euripus Strait, and connected to the mainland by a bridge. It is only about an hour away from Athens, so it's perfect for a day trip as well as holidays. There are many interesting sights in Chalkida – a Castle of Karababa built on a hill above the city, the Red House and watching the tide phenomenon from the Negroponte Bridge. The Strait of Euripus is prone to extremely strong currents that reverse direction four times a day (roughly every six hours). The city has accommodation of all varieties, as well as shopping, cafes, bars, restaurants. There are several excellent nearby beaches – Agios Minas and Asteria are worth it for a dip!
