Edirne Province is a province of Turkey. It is located in the East Thrace region of the country, also known as European Turkey, one of only three provinces entirely within continental Europe. Edirne Province is bordered by Tekirdağ Province and Kırklareli Province to the east, the Gallipoli peninsula of Çanakkale Province to the south-east, and international borders with Bulgaria to the north and Greece to the west. Edirne is the capital of the province, notable for serving as the third capital of the Ottoman Empire from 1363 to 1453.

It crosses the Meriç river, carrying the state road . Construction of the bridge began under the Ottoman sultan Mahmud II , and was completed in 1843 by his successor Abdülmecid I .     Gazi Mihal Bridge is a historic Ottoman bridge in Edirne, Turkey. it crosses the Tunca.The bridge was originally built by the Byzantine emperor Michael VIII but was rebuilt early in the 15th century by the Ottoman frontier lord Gazi Mihal. In 1544, Ottoman sultan Suleiman the Magnificent added eight arches at its western end, which had originally eight arches. Sultan Mehmed III added a span with two arches, which is called the middle bridge.

    The Uzunköprü Bridge or Long Bridge meaning is a 15th-century Ottoman bridge, which gave its name to the town of Uzunköprü. The bridge was built between 1426 and 1443 by head architect Muslihiddin on the orders of Ottoman Sultan Murad II. The ancient stone-built bridge with 174 arches, is 1,392 m long and up to 6.80 m wide. Some of the arches are pointed and some are round. When it was first completed, the structure was the longest bridge in the Ottoman Empire and later Turkey, a title which it held for 530 years until 1973, when it was surpassed by the Bosphorus Bridge in Istanbul.
