Eat in Patagonia trip
======================
In Patagonia, there are plenty of unique and delicious things to eat. As in all of Argentina, beef is important, but particular to the area is the cordero, lamb, which is of a very unique flavor (supposedly because the Patagonian lamb eats a unique mixture of herbs found only in Patagonia) especially when grilled in the typical parrilla (grill).
Dulce de leche, similar to caramel and made by adding sugar to milk and cooking it, is used on nearly all desserts, including facturas (pastries eaten for breakfast or tea, or to accompany mate, filled with dulce de leche, dulce de membrillo, crema pastelera, roquefort, or many other things), alfajores (traditional cookies that consist of tiny biscuits stuck together), and many other Argentine desserts.

Patagonia trip and hikes, Argentina
In this video I'll show you the most beautiful part of Argentina, Patagonia! After Buenos Aires we went to Puerto Madryn to see some wild life. We were very lucky to see whales and orca's from very near by. The whales were literally next to our tour boat. Our next stop was Barriloche, we visited the 7 lakes and did an amazing hike in this town. After seeing this beautiful place we drove Ruta 40 by car heading South to Patagonia. Our first stop in the South was El Chalten, here we cllimbed the famous Monte Fitz Roy. Next stop was El Calafate's - Perito Moreno, this gigantic ice glacier is almost surreal. We continued our trip and headed back North and stopped in El Bolsón. This place was most likely the biggest surprise of our Argentina trip. Amazing nature, beautiful waterfalls, incredible hikes and most of all a small hippie town. And of course the El cerro Piltriquitrón hike. A must do on your Argentina checklist! See a small recap of the highlights of this beautiful Patagonia trip.

Bariloche – los Alerces
14 October 2017
After a good night at the Lago Gutiërrez campsite we were heading for the Los Alerces National park. Highlights of the day were the Nahuel Huapi National Park, El Bolsón, Lago Puelo National Park and the Los Alerces National Park. Quit a lot for one day. The Nahuel Huapi National Park is a mountain landscape. They say that it looks like the Alps, however for a couple of hundred years ago. There are no villages, no ski resorts, it is pure nature. After Nahuel Huapi National Park we reached the small town of El Bolsón. In the 1970s hippies from Buenos Aires migrated to El Bolsón. Some of the hippies practiced horticulture or made handcraft. And on this Saturday it was market day in El Bolsón, a good time for the ladies. A few kilometers west of our route to the los Alerces National Park the Lago Puelo National Park is situated. We were told that the Lago Puelo should be a beautiful place for a lunch. And it was!
Further to the south the landscape became even more beautiful, especially when we reached the Los Alerces National Park. In the los Alerces National Park we found a perfect place to stay at the Lago Rivadavia.
