Mexico City Travel Guide
Our Mexico City Travel Guide! This wonderful city is truly the star of one our best episodes ever.
I have never fallen in love with a city quite as quickly as I fell in love with Mexico City. The Mexican capital is everything I want in a city; sprawling, loud, exciting, creative, friendly, and absolutely delicious.
Our Mexico City guide is one of our longest episodes ever and I feel every second is justified as this city has so much to offer. The food section alone is packed full of deliciousness - don't watch on an empty stomach!

AMAZING FIREFLY SANCTUARY [THOUSANDS] | TLAXCALA MEXICO
And the gold medal of 2017 goes to!
Visiting the Firefly sanctuary near Nanacamilpa, Tlaxcala, Mexico was completely unbelievable. Thousands of them, and spinning and swirling around us and into the tree tops. Lighting up IN SYNC with each other like a coordinated light show. It didn't feel like planet earth, it felt like I stood up to fast and was seeing stars, it felt like I stepped into fantasy.
I drove 2 hours to stay at the eco lodge Piedra Canteada, deep in the pine forests of Oyamel. These insects show their faces for just a month every year to breed. This story might sound a little bit like the Monarch Butterfly Migration that we saw earlier in the year, but instead of flying from Canada, the fireflies are here all year round; you just can't see them.
The firefly we know, isn't even a fly, it's a beetle. All beetles have a larval stage called a grub, and fireflies live in the dirt without wings for 20 months before erupting out of a pupae (a bit like a cocoon) for one single month to have a giant sex party.
This show is easily one of the top 5 most amazing natural phenomena I have seen so far in my travels, and I can't believe it's not more popular. Bioluminescence continues to blow my mind. Glowing plankton, fireflies, mushrooms... I think it is incredible.
Enjoy this quick video of the Firefly Sanctuary in Tlaxcala, I don't think anyone has filmed it yet on Youtube. I needed special equipment, and It was a bit tricky to capture this for you guys.

LAS COLORADAS YUCATAN - THE RAINBOW SALT FLATS OF MEXICO
This is Las Coloradas Yucatan, the rainbow salt flats of Rio Lagartos Mexico. It took us 4 trips to get this one right, and finally we got a our quadcopter the DJI Inspire 1 drone flight in! You can find pools of green, orange, and pink here. These are ancient drying beds for salt, the more pink the water, the higher the concentration. This place is in the middle of nowhere, and is a helluva thing to see! It's similar to Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia, just add a little bit more color ;)
In our 4 visits to Las Coloradas, we only saw about 5 other people visiting. It's basically unheard of, and you can spend the whole day by yourself there. The drive from Merida or Cancun is about 3 hours, but it's worth it as there's lots of other things to see up there as well. Flamingos, Mud Baths, Dolphins, etc.
If Mexico is on your travel list, and you find yourself in the Yucatan Peninsula, make the trip to Las Coloradas.

COOLEST AIRBNB IN MEXICO | INSIDE QUETZALCOATL'S NEST SNAKE HOUSE
This the coolest airbnb I've ever stayed in. There are some amazing things to do in Mexico City, and if you want to travel just a short distance outside of it, you'll find the Nido de Quetzalcoatl or Quetzalcoatl's Nest tucked inside the valleys of Naucalpan.
It is a series of 10 apartments build into the back of a giant serpent. It's the coolest house I've ever seen, if you don't mind living in a snake god.
This park was created by Javier Senosiain, a Mexican architect specializing in Organic Architecture. This philosophy of construction blends seamlessly with nature, so they both work together in harmony. When Javier first decided to build the park, he came across a giant cave whose opening resembled the gaping mouth of a snake. This inspired him to continue the theme, and great a giant 18 hectare park, with 13 snakes twisting through it. Despite everything he has created here, the valley in which everything is hidden, is vastly untouched. His constructions are guided using the natural shape of the land.
As far as things to do in Mexico, this is an absolute must. I have never seen anything like this in all of my years as a travel vlogger. It is truly an oasis hidden away from the bustle of Mexico City

TO VISIT:
At this time you have two options. A private tour or staying in the apartment. Our contact for both of these is Patricia. Her email: mopacastillo(at)gmail.com
The easiest, and which that allows you the most freedom is to stay there overnight. It is a 8-10 person apartment, with a recommended minimum of 2 nights. This can sometimes be negotiated depending on the time of year. Get some friends together and split the cost. It is worth it.

Rosarito, Baja California, (Lobster Village) Puerto Nuevo.
At just 19 miles from the border with the United States lies the city of Rosarito. Located off the coast of the Pacific Ocean. In the State of Baja California, it is a meeting point for Californian culture, where you will be able to spend relaxed days in a spa or in the center of the city, which can become as vibrant as during carnival time.
