The best camping site in Lithuania - Camping Harmony
It was a complete coincidence that we found this camping site. We just followed the sign and turned off the main road. After a-couple-of-kilometers-ride on an unpaved road in the middle of a forrest we already reached that point where you do not believe anymore there can be anything ahaed. And right there was the camping site Harmony. The best one we found during our expedition To Gibraltar through Nordkapp.

Kruonis Hydro Pumped Storage Plant-Lithuania
Kruonis Pumped Storage Plant (the KPSP) is located near Kruonis, Lithuania, 34 km (21 mi) east of Kaunas. Its main purpose is to provide a spinning reserve of the power system, to regulate the load curve of the power system 24 hours a day. It operates in conjunction with the Kaunas Hydroelectric Power Plant. During periods of low demand, usually at night, Kruonis PSHP is operated in pump mode, and, using cheap surplus energy, raises water from the lower Kaunas reservoir to the upper one. The station is designed to have an installed capacity of 1,600 MW but only four 225 MW generators are currently operational (a fifth is planned for 2015).[1] With a fully filled upper reservoir the plant can generate 900 MW for about 12 hours. To liquidate the capacity deficit in the event of the disconnection of the Ignalina nuclear power plant, the Kruonis Pumped Storage Plant generators are automatically launched into operation.
The KPSP uses hydro-resources of artificial water pools existing at different geographical levels.
The electricity from this power plant is supplied to a 330 kV electricity line between Elektrėnai, where the largest fossil fuel plant in Lithuania is operating, and Kaunas. During a surplus of electricity generation output, the KPSP operates at pump mode and uses the surplus electricity to pump water from the lower pool to the upper pool.
During an electricity output deficit, the Kruonis PSP operates as a regular hydro power plant, letting water flow from the upper pool to the lower pool and in this way generating additional electricity. With fully filled upper reservoir the plant can generate 900 MW for about 12 hours. Kruonis Plant is the only pumped-storage station in the Baltic states.
Vilnius Televizijos Bokstas / Television Tower & views over Vilnius, Lithuania - 19th January, 2013
The Vilnius TV Tower (Vilniaus televizijos bokštas) is a 326.5 m (1,071 ft) tower in the Karoliniškės district of Vilnius, Lithuania. It is the tallest structure in Lithuania, and is occupied by the SC Lithuanian Radio and Television Centre (AB Lietuvos radijo ir televizijos centras).
The construction of the tower started on 31 May 1974 and finished on December 30, 1980. The weight of the whole structure is estimated at 25,000 to 30,000 metric tons (55,000,000--66,000,000 lb). The structure is composed of a concrete base, a 190 m (623 ft) long hollow reinforced concrete pipe, a reinforced concrete saucer, and a 136 m (446 ft) long steel spike. Radio transmitters are housed in the lower part of the concrete tower with antennas attached to the steel spike.
The TV tower played a major role in the events of 13 January 1991, when 14 unarmed civilians lost their lives and 700 were injured opposing the Soviet military seizure of the tower.
The observation deck 165 m (541 ft) from the ground houses the cafe Paukščių takas (Milky Way), and offers a picturesque view of the city and its surroundings, and sports a rotating platform that revolves once every 45 minutes. High-speed elevators reach the cafe from ground level in 40 seconds. On clear days, visibility can extend as far as Elektrėnai, a city approximately 40 km (25 mi) west, where power plants produced much of the electricity for Vilnius in Soviet times.
This film features external views of the tower, and the shrine to protestors who died opposing the Soviets in 1991, as well as views from the tower over the whole of the Vilnius area. This footage was taken over 90 minutes and has been speeded up time-lapse style against the original audio soundtrack. It highlights the Wintery snow covered landscape and setting late afternoon sun as the day turns to dusk. Finally night time views with the it up tower observation deck are featured.
