Samothrace is a Greek island in the northern Aegean Sea. It is a municipality within the Evros regional unit of Thrace.
According to Homer, Samothrace was the island from which Poseidon watched the fall of Troy.

Voluntary a National Park in Greece
Hi !!
I am Bony, a 23 years old french girl and I was volunteer in Greece last year. I did an 11 months European Voluntary Service in a little Greek village named Dadia, that is 10 km from the Turkish border. I was working with the NGO WWF (World Wildlife Fund) that monitor birds there (especially vultures), in the Dadia's National Park. My main activities were to stay into the forest during 6 or 12 hours, watching (count, observe behaviors...) birds with binoculars or telescope, or to help workers to do others various tasks.
I arrived there without any knowledges about birds and this year was really interesting for me ! It made me change a lot, in the good way !! Moreover, I learnt so much !! I was integrated into different cultures (Greek and Turkish), I improved my language skills and I met so much great people !!!
About the video, I realized it in Greece, with french friends that came one week to visit me during my service. I made it to present EVS program to Greek students from universities of my Greek area.
I think that, to open our minds to different countries, to travel, to live with customs of other countries, is the best way to live in the real actual world and to evolve !!

Samothrace (also Samothraki, Samothracia[3]) (Ancient Greek: Σαμοθρᾴκη, Ionic Σαμοθρηΐκη; Greek: Σαμοθράκη, [samoˈθraci]) is a Greek island in the northern Aegean Sea. It is a municipality within the Evros regional unit of Thrace. The island is 17 km (11 mi) long and is 178 km2 (69 sq mi) in size and has a population of 2,859 (2011 census). Its main industries are fishing and tourism. Resources on the island include granite and basalt. Samothrace is one of the most rugged Greek islands, with Mt. Saos and its tip Fengari rising to 1,611 m.

On the 1st level exist the permanent exhibition with the history of the city of Alexandroupolis . It includes separate sections for the archaeological sites around the city, the foundation of the city, the relation with the railway and the port, the architectural character, the economic and political historical course, the cultural and social life and the presentation of the population groups who formed it.
The exhibition is articulated through a modern museological approach, using photographic compositions and representational material, interactive media and projections, as well as collections of documents and relics from archival collector material from donations and private and public entities
The mezzanine hosts the Helen Filippides collection of “Sarakatsan” costumes. Through unique exhibits and representations, is presenting the life, the activities and the artefacts of “Sarakatsan” women in their particular nomadic life.
The ground floor is used for periodic exhibitions and various events of the Museum.
In the basement are stored the collections, the archives and the library of the Museum.
The Historical Museum of Alexandroupolis organizes temporary exhibitions, day conferences, lectures, book presentations, educational programs, cultural events and tours with historical and cultural interest in Greece and abroad.

Alexandreia is a located in the vast plain north of the river Aliakmonas and west of the river Axios, named Kampania or also Roumlouki. Its economy is chiefly based on the agricultural utilization of the surrounding fields. The area around Alexandreia has the greatest production of peaches in Greece and apples, pears, tobacco, and cotton are also grown at large. Its elevation is 10 m above mean sea level.[4] Alexandreia is 19 km south of Giannitsa, 23 km northeast of Veroia and 42 km west of Thessaloniki.
Central Macedonia
Alexandreia has a railway station on the railway from Thessaloniki to Florina. The Platy railway station on the important railway from Thessaloniki to Athens is also situated in the municipality of Alexandreia. The motorways A2 (Egnatia Odos) and A1 pass through the municipality. The Greek National Roads EO1 and EO4 pass through the town.
