Flandreau FLAN-droo is a city in Moody County, South Dakota, United States. The population was 2,341 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Moody County. It was named in honor of Charles Eugene Flandrau , a judge in the territory and state of Minnesota, who is credited with saving the community of New Ulm, Minnesota, from destruction during conflict with the Sioux tribe in 1862. Laura Elizabeth Ingalls Wilder was an American writer known for the Little House on the Prairie series of children's books, published between 1932 and 1943, which were based on her childhood in a settler and pioneer family.During the 1970s and early 1980s, the television series Little House on the Prairie was loosely based on the Little House books, and starred Melissa Gilbert as Laura and Michael Landon as her father, Charles Ingalls.

Admittedly we only stopped here because it's mention in the TV series Supernatural numerous times! lol... Needless to say, we didn't find any demons or spirits, but we did find a cool park with a waterfall! We also walked into a casino (Kinda like a small bar with a couple of machines)... We got the stare of doom from the locals, so we kinda just walked straight back out! LOL

It is the county seat of Minnehaha County, and also extends into Lincoln County to the south. It is the 47th fastest-growing city in the United States and the fastest-growing metro area in South Dakota, with a population increase of 22% between 2000 and 2010.

As of 2015, Sioux Falls had an estimated population of 171,544. The metropolitan population of 251,854 accounts for 29% of South Dakota's population. It is also the primary city of the Sioux Falls-Sioux City Designated Market Area (DMA), a larger media market region that covers parts of four states and has a population of 1,043,450. Chartered in 1856 on the banks of the Big Sioux River, the city is situated in the rolling hills on the western edge of the Midwest at the junction of Interstate 90 and Interstate 29.
