Pacific Biodiesel Sunflowers Interview

First established on Maui in 1995, Pacific Biodiesel is the country’s longest-operating biodiesel producer, and the only commercial liquid biofuel producer in the state of Hawaii. Through donations of used cooking oil from around the state, Pacific Biodiesel is able to recycle it and turn it into more than 5 1/2 million gallons of premium biodegradable fuel to be used for generators, trucks, cars, busses, boats, and just about any other form of transportation you can think of.

With a zero-waste philosophy that happens to incorporate the develop of value-added co-products, Pacific Biodiesel demonstrates a true full-circle system of sustainability aimed at making Hawaii one of the cleanest and most sustainable places on earth in terms of energy.

In this video, we hear from Marketing Director Joy Galatro, General Manager Francesco Greco and Pacific Biodiesel President Bob King as they talk about their current and future projects, and how the company has shaped the renewable energy industry on Maui and throughout the state of Hawaii.

In 2017, Pacific Biodiesel expanded their operations to include a 115 acre site of sunflower fields located in Maui’s central valley, which continue to be the only biofuel farming operation running on 100% renewable fuel and Hawaii’s largest biofuel crop project period. Producing products like vegetable cooking oil for restaurants, all-natural beauty products, massage oils, honey and ingredients for use in the production of reef-safe sunscreen, now a statewide requirement, we expect to continue to see excellent things from the team at Pacific Biodiesel.
