Perlan - A Sparkling Pearl of Wonders, Stars, And The Best View In Reykjavík
Ever since the mid-20th century, six hot water tanks stood on top of Öskjuhlíð. In 1991, an immense glass dome was placed on top of them, forming Perlan, which in the years since has become one of the most iconic and visited attractions in Iceland. The name translates to ‘pearl’, and seeing the building from the distance will show you why. On a sunny day in the city, it sparkles out like a prize-winning diamond, enchanting locals and foreigners alike...

List of cities and towns in Iceland
This is a list of cities and towns in Iceland. Some of Iceland’s larger cities and towns are also self-contained municipalities whose geography and populations are therefore equal. However, most of Iceland’s municipalities, which are semi-autonomous administrative zones, contain several disparate towns or cities, each of whose population contributes to that of its respective municipality.
In addition to Iceland's many independent towns, this article includes cities and towns whose municipalities consist of one, self-contained city of the same name, such as Hafnarfjörður and Akranes. Municipalities that are not also cities or towns, such as Árborg, are not included here, but their constituent towns and cities are. For Árborg, these include the towns of Selfoss, Eyrarbakki, and Stokkseyri.
For more information on the administrative divisions of Iceland, refer to the “Divisions” section of the Iceland infobox on this page.

Small Icelandic Towns #5 - Old and New Houses in Hafnarfjörður
Hafnarfjörður is Iceland's third largest town, with a population of over 29.800 where daily life and culture thrives in the middle of an old lava field. The town retains its small-town air, its rural aura and its heart - which is not surprising given that the it prides itself on the largest unbroken neighborhood of corrugated iron-clad timber houses in Iceland.
Enjoy this winter drive after first snowfall in 2019 where i take you trough the diverse building history, starting in the town center from where we move into the oldest part and from there into more recent neighborhoods, and end by the docks.
For me personally it's always a pleasure to visit Hafnarfjörður. Even the town is a part of the capital area, it has it's own soul and people from there distinct them from rest of the capital area and want to be able to seek all service locally. It's something that the people from the other towns that create the capital area usually do since it's hard to see whan you are in Reykjavik or the surrounding towns of Garðabær, Kópavogur, Seltjarnarnes and of course Hafnarfjörður with it's own soul.

Small Icelandic Towns #9 - Álftanes, the Hidden Gem in The Reykjavík Area
Please click on subtitles for full narritation but my small town series are meant to give you an idea about how it is to live in Icelandic small towns, without sounding like a tourist guide. My motto is to show them in different seasons trough drive-around videos, as they are, in every kind of mood and weather there is. Please tolerate with my work since I'm an amateur in film-making but practice makes perfect. My plan is to make a mini-documentaries over all Icelandic towns in the next years so this is far from end result. I use all my free time to record in different seasons, making info-texts and collecting feedback in order to make my material straight to the point with the information travellers seek while planing their trip to my country.
