Top 10 Places to Eat in Siargao Island, Philippines

Siargao, Philippines - Siargao Island is becoming one of the most popular travel destinations in The Philippines. Along with Boracay and Palawan, Siargao is a popular Philippines travel island because of their famous surf breaks and laidback atmosphere.
I'm not a very good surfer, so instead, I decided to eat my way around General Luna in between all the things to do in Siargao.
This is a list of my favorite places to eat in Siargao - From smoothies at Shaka and to Pizza at Kermit and grilled fish at Mama's Grill.

--WHERE TO SLEEP IN SIARGAO--
There are multiple places I can recommend.
►Surfing Carabao:
This is the place you see in the video, which I loved very much! They are a bit out of town so you’ll need to rent a bike or tricycle to get into town (for dinner and tours).
►Ocean 101:
This is where my friends stayed, and they loved it! Have only enjoyed sunset here which was quite nice
►Kawili:
You can book dorm rooms here too, it’s in the center of General Luna (close to everything!). Friends who stayed at an other place, decided to go here cause the other place just ended up being a big party spot. They liked Kawili!

General tip: check the LATEST REVIEWS if you book a hotel! The place I spoke about before had very good reviews till a few months ago, when it changed owner who basically throws parties every night. Overall rating is not bad, just the last reviews show the real situation.

--WHAT TO SEE IN SIARGAO—
Here’s what’s featured in the video
►Sugba Lagoon and Kawhagan Island (nice daytrip I took with with My Siargao Guide)
►Island hopping to Guyam, Daku and Naked island (nice daytrip too, also with My Siargao Guide)
►Visiting the tree swing at Maasin bridge and continue to the small lagoon (we took a trike to the bridge, from General Luna and back for 500 pesos total)

►Pacifico, long drive but popular surf spot and beach
►Magpungko Rock pool, which is apparently very stunning when the sun is out!
►Tayangban Cave Pool
►Tak tak waterfall

--WHERE TO EAT IN SIARGAO—
►Kermit Surf resort is definitely a must visit! They got amazing pizza’s and other treats. Be in time cause they fill up. If you’re a guest at the hotel, they’ll reserve a spot for you in a special area.
►Shaka Café for your morning smoothie bowl.
►Mama’s Grill for fresh fish
►Bravo Beach resort, for very chill dining at the beach front
►Sushi nori, along the road in General Luna. Not the most fancy spot to sit, but that Sushi!!! O my!
►Pan de Coco, along the main road in General Luna. Ask for it!

--RAIN IN SIARGAO—
It's important to know Siargao has some heavy rains from time to time. Not only can this ruin your plans on the spot (I had friends visiting 2 years ago who couldn't do anything because of the rain). But also for flying back it matters. With heavy rain, airplanes don't leave the airport, or you can't arrive from let's say Cebu. I would suggest planning your trip with some extra time!!! For flying also :)

TOP THINGS TO DO IN CALAMBA LAGUNA: JOSE RIZAL HOUSE | Philippines Travel Guide

Jose Rizal is the National Hero of the Philippines. He was from Calamba, Laguna in the Philippines, the neighboring city from my Mom's hometown, Cabuyao Laguna. In fact, before Rizal was born Calamba used to be considered part of Cabuyao until it was changed to Calamba sometime in the 1800s. We visit which in tagalog is the Museo ni Jose Rizal and explore the history of his family inside the house he grew up in.

We also head to SM City Calamba and find 20 peso Soft Serve Ube Ice Cream and find out about the legend of Mary Makiling and her connection to the volcano Mount Makiling.

*Go to Cloud 9 (we went there but there's already a Php 50 entrance fee (USD 1)
*Magpupungko rock pools
*dine in restaurants in Siargao
*Visit Guyam island, Daku island and Naked island - Island hopping tour in Siargao (you can do it yourself or go on tours @gotmarkedtours on Instagram are usually the ones I go for)
* Pump boat rentals ranges from Php 1,500- 5,000 depends on how big it is (USD 30-100)
* Visit Corregidor island (It's my favourite)
*Establishments doesn't usually accept credit cards so make sure to bring cash at all times
*There's only one ATM machine in General Luna and that's close to the Church
*Exploring the whole Siargao island is best via motorbike, tricycle or car
*Motorbike rentals usually range from Php 350- 500 (USD 8-10) a day
*Car rentals starts Php 2,500 a day (USD 50)
* Direct flights to Siargao from Manila and Cebu are daily via Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific and Skyjet
*There's no proper clinic/hospital in General Luna so make sure to ALWAYS BE CAREFUL TO AVOID ACCIDENTS
* ALWAYS RESPECT THE LOCALS
* Clean as you go. Dispose trash in proper waste bin
