Avignon Tourist Guide
The historic centre of Avignon, which includes the Palais des Papes, the cathedral, and the Pont d'Avignon, became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995. The medieval monuments and the annual Festival d'Avignon have helped to make the town a major centre for tourism.

VISIT THE LOUVRE MUSEUM IN 5 MINUTES!!! (BEST ROADMAP)
The Louvre is the world's largest museum and houses one of the most impressive art collections in history. The magnificent, baroque-style palace and museum — Le Musée du Louvre in French — sits along the banks of the Seine River in Paris. It is one of the city's biggest tourist attractions.
The Louvre’s painting collection is one of the richest in the world, representing all periods of European art up to the Revolutions of 1848. (Works painted after that date that the Louvre once housed were transferred to the Musée d’Orsay upon its opening in 1986.) The Louvre’s collection of French paintings from the 15th to the 19th century is unsurpassed in the world, and it also has many masterpieces by Italian Renaissance painters, including Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa (c. 1503–19), and works by Flemish and Dutch painters of the Baroque period.
The department of decorative arts displays the treasures of the French kings—bronzes, miniatures, pottery, tapestries, jewelry, and furniture—while the department of Greek, Etruscan, and Roman antiquities features architecture, sculpture, mosaics, bronzes, jewelry, and pottery. The department of Egyptian antiquities was established in 1826 to organize the collections acquired during Napoleon’s Egyptian campaign. The department of Near Eastern antiquities is most important for its collection of Mesopotamian art.

Musée du Louvre (Paris) - A Virtual Tour through the Louvre Museum in Paris, France
Musée du Louvre (Paris) - A Virtual Tour through the Louvre Museum in Paris, France
The Louvre or the Louvre Museum (French: Musée du Louvre) is one of the world's largest museums and a historic monument. A central landmark of Paris, France, it is located on the Right Bank of the Seine in the 1st arrondissement (district). Nearly 35,000 objects from prehistory to the 21st century are exhibited over an area of 60,600 square meters (652,300 square feet). The Louvre is the world's most visited museum, and received more than 9.7 million visitors in 2012.
The museum is housed in the Louvre Palace, originally built as a fortress in the late 12th century under Philip II. Remnants of the fortress are visible in the basement of the museum. The building was extended many times to form the present Louvre Palace. In 1682, Louis XIV chose the Palace of Versailles for his household, leaving the Louvre primarily as a place to display the royal collection, including, from 1692, a collection of ancient Greek and Roman sculpture. In 1692, the building was occupied by the Académie des Inscriptions et Belles Lettres and the Académie Royale de Peinture et de Sculpture, which in 1699 held the first of a series of salons. The Académie remained at the Louvre for 100 years. During the French Revolution, the National Assembly decreed that the Louvre should be used as a museum to display the nation's masterpieces.
The museum opened on 10 August 1793 with an exhibition of 537 paintings, the majority of the works being royal and confiscated church property. Because of structural problems with the building, the museum was closed in 1796 until 1801. The collection was increased under Napoleon and the museum renamed the Musée Napoléon, but after Napoleon's abdication many works seized by his armies were returned to their original owners. The collection was further increased during the reigns of Louis XVIII and Charles X, and during the Second French Empire the museum gained 20,000 pieces. Holdings have grown steadily through donations and gifts since the Third Republic. As of 2008, the collection is divided among eight curatorial departments: Egyptian Antiquities; Near Eastern Antiquities; Greek, Etruscan, and Roman Antiquities; Islamic Art; Sculpture; Decorative Arts; Paintings; Prints and Drawings.
The High Renaissance collection includes Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa, Virgin and Child with St. Anne, St. John the Baptist, and Madonna of the Rocks.

Vidéo en français :
How well do you really know the most famous museum in the world?
In the heart of the former home of the King's of France, stands the famous glass pyramids of Pei (extremely controversial in 1988). A few feet away, the artist Anselm Kiefer is installed in the northern staircase of la Cour carrée, for contemporary art also has a place inside the museum. A full program of temporary exhibitions, film projections and concerts makes the Louvre a fascinating place to be.
Thus, the Louvre is « a secular institution resolutely focused on the future ».
The Dordogne, France: Lascaux's Prehistoric Cave Paintings
More info about travel to the Dordogne: From about 18,000 to 10,000 B.C., long before Stonehenge and the pyramids, back when mammoths and saber-toothed cats still roamed the earth, prehistoric people painted deep inside caves in what is today the Dordogne region of France. These cave paintings are huge and sophisticated projects executed by artists and supported by an impressive culture — the Magdalenians.

Mona Lisa 360° Tour Louvre museum Paris
Louvre museum Paris in 360° degree video at Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa painting. Info for visitors who want to see Mona Lisa painting:
We would have loved to get closer to the painting. If you are not bringing a camera with super zoom lens and anti shake camera system it will be really hard to gat a close and steady picture.
It is not allowed to bring in tripods or film with selfie sticks.
You will get disturbed by employees every time they see you. So hard it sounds, don't expect to make great pictures if you go there.
Tip: Go there for free by using our info in the lower part of this description.
INFO:
How to get free admission?
- October to March: Free admission to Louvre museum for everyone on the first Sunday of each month.
- On July 14th (Bastille Day) Admission is also free.
- Every Friday from 6 p.m. free admission to the museum if you are under 26 years for all nationalities. No need to line up for tickets. Just present your valid ID at museum entrance.
