Places to see in ( Chambery - France ) Chateau des Ducs de Savoie
This forbidding medieval castle, once home to the counts and dukes of Savoy, now houses the Préfecture and Conseil Général of the Savoie département. The gardens and the Cour d'Honneur (courtyard) are open free-of-charge, but to see the 14th- and 15th-century Tour Trésorerie (Treasury Tower) and the stained glass inside the recently restored Ste-Chapelle, built in the 15th century to house the Shroud of Turin, you have to take a tour.
Château fort, princely palace and emblem of the power of the Counts and Dukes of Savoy, the castle of the Dukes of Savoy includes a remarkable set of buildings built from the thirteenth century to the present day. The princes who ruled this state for nearly nine centuries and the many administrations that have succeeded each other have left a strong imprint. Since 1860, year of the meeting of the Savoy to France, the prefecture and the general council of the department pursue this administrative function.
The Château des Ducs de Savoie or castle of Chambéry is an old castle , the xi th century, which stands on the town of Chambéry in the department of Savoie region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. Modified several times since the xiii th century, it has retained ever since an administrative role. The chapel of the castle sheltered, from 1502 to 1578, the Shroud . In its tower is currently installed a large bell called St. Francis de Sales consisting of 70 bells , the work of the Paccard Foundry in Sévrier
The castle now houses the services of the Prefecture of Savoy , the departmental council of Savoy and the Academy of Savoy. As historical monuments : the former castle of the Dukes of Savoy is the subject of a classification by decree of August 10 , 1881, the large living room decorated with a Louis XVI decoration is the subject of a classification by decree of the April 20 , 1960.

Places to see in ( Saumur - France ) Chateau de Saumur
The Château de Saumur, originally built as a castle and later developed as a château, is located in the French town of Saumur, in the Maine-et-Loire département. It was originally constructed in the 10th century by Theobald I, Count of Blois, as a fortified stronghold against Norman predations. It overlooks the confluence of the Loire and the Thouet. In 1026 it came into the hands of Fulk Nerra, count of Anjou, who bequeathed it to his Plantagenet heirs. Following its destruction in 1067, the castle was rebuilt by Henry II of England in the later 12th century.
In the early part of the 13th century, Philip II of France made Saumur part of his royal domain. The page for September in the Tres Riches Heures du Duc de Berry depicts the Chateau as it looked in 1410. It changed hands several times until 1589 when the Protestant King Henry IV (of France and Navarre) gave the castle to Duplessis-Mornay.
In 1621 the castle was converted into an army barracks. Nearly two centuries later it was converted into a state prison under Napoleon Bonaparte. In the first part of the 20th century, the city of Saumur acquired the castle and began a restoration program to house the museum of the decorative arts. In line with the Saumur area's equestrian tradition and its famous Cadre Noir, the castle also serves as a Museum of the Horse. The castle has a dungeon and watchtower, and houses the Musée de la Figurine-Jouet, a collection of very old toys and figurines of soldiers, kings of France, and clowns.
The Château de Saumur has been listed as a monument historique by the French Ministry of Culture since 1862. As of 2008, there are a total of 46 buildings and structures in Saumur which are designated a Monument Historique - see the French national database Mérimée.
Most of the monuments are built in the lovely soft local stone known as tuffeau. Amongst the most important monuments are the great Château de Saumur itself which stands high overlooking the town, and the nearby Château de Beaulieu which stands just 200 metres from the south bank of the Loire river; designed by the renowned architect Jean Drapeau, it is recognised for its light and elegant architecture. Amongst the other Monuments Historiques are the church of Saint-Pierre in the Place St Pierre in the centre of Saumur, and the Château de Briacé which is located on the north side of the river. The architecture of Saumur is very well described in the book: Saumur - Promenade D'architectures, by Marie Jane Durand, and published by the Tourism Office of Saumur.

*Best Times to Visit Paris
The best time to visit Paris is from June to August, when the weather is just about parfait (perfect). Average highs are in the mid 70s and there are long days of sunshine. Unfortunately, summer is also the most crowded time — and the most expensive. For a significant drop in tourism, plan a trip in the fall or spring. To save some money on your flight and hotel, pack your most stylish heavy jacket (this is Paris, after all) and visit in the winter.

September-November
Starting in late September, Paris' hotels make moderate rate cuts. Average temperatures can range from the 40s to the 60s, so pack accordingly.
December-February
Paris' low season sees temperatures that range from freezing to around 40 degrees. Heavy — yet chic — coats are necessary this time of year. If you dare defy the chilly weather, you can save quite a few euro on your hotel and flight.
March-May
Along with fall, spring is Paris' other shoulder season, and these months lure travelers with slight price cuts on hotel rooms. Temperatures usually span the 40 to 60 degree range, and afternoon rains are a bit more frequent.
By train
Paris is well connected to the rest of Europe by train. There is no central station serving Paris and the six different stations are not connected to each other. You will probably want to know in advance at which station your train is arriving, so as to better choose a hotel and plan for transport within the city.
