Gletsch is a hamlet in the German-speaking half of the canton of Valais, located in the upper Rhone valley, called Obergoms , 2.5 kilometres , southeast below the Rhone Glacier's mouth and itself the headwaters of the Rhône. It is called Gletsch , since the first building was the predecessor of the Hôtel Glacier du Rhône built more or less just next to the glacier's mouth in 1830. It belongs to the municipality of Obergoms. Gletsch lies at the crossroads of the Grimsel Pass and the Furka Pass . The Gletsch railway station is operated by the Furka Cogwheel Steam Railway.

The Rhône is one of the major rivers of Europe and has twice the average discharge of the Loire , rising in the Rhône Glacier in the Swiss Alps at the far eastern end of the Swiss canton of Valais, passing through Lake Geneva and running through southeastern France. At Arles, near its mouth on the Mediterranean Sea, the river divides into two branches, known as the Great Rhône and the Little Rhône . The resulting delta constitutes the Camargue region.

The Trümmelbach Falls in Switzerland are a series of ten glacier-fed waterfalls inside the mountain made accessible by a tunnel-funicular, built 1913, stairs, and illumination. Located in the Lauterbrunnen Valley, the creek called Trümmelbach alone drains the glacier defiles of Eiger , Mönch , and Jungfrau and carries more than 20,000 tons of boulder detritus per year.Its drainage area is 24 square kilometres , half of it covered by snow and glaciers. Furka Pass , with an elevation of 2,429 metres , is a high mountain pass in the Swiss Alps connecting Gletsch, Valais with Realp, Uri. The Furka Oberalp Bahn line through the Furka Tunnel bypasses the pass. The base tunnel opened in 1982 and replaced a tunnel at 2100 m. The Furka Pass was used as a location in the James Bond film Goldfinger. Visitors can also park next to Hotel Belvédère, close to the summit, and take the short walk to the Rhone Glacier Ice Grotto. The glacier moves 30-40 metres each year, and the 100 m long tunnel and ice chamber can be visited from June when the road opens.

The Aare Gorge is a section of the river Aare that carves through a limestone ridge near the town of Meiringen, in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland. The gorge is an indirect product of glaciation; 10,000 years ago, just as the Ice Age was coming to an end, torrential runoff water from melting glaciers eroded a deep, narrow chasm through the limestone barrier. Although barely one mile long, this passage is bordered by sheer cliffs up to 165 feet high on either side. The municipality comprises the major Lauterbrunnen Valley , the Soustal, the Sefinental, the upper Lauterbrunnen Valley with Untersteinberg including several glaciers, such as the Tschingelfirn and the Rottalgletscher, many Alpine meadows and peaks, such as Schilthorn, Bietenhorn, Schwarzmönch, and Silberhorn, and finally the villages Lauterbrunnen, Wengen, Mürren, Gimmelwald, Stechelberg, and Isenfluh, and several hamlets. The population of the village Lauterbrunnen is less than that of Wengen, but larger than that of the others.

The Staubbach Fall is a waterfall in Switzerland, located just west above Lauterbrunnen in the Bernese Highlands. The waterfall drops 297 metres from a hanging valley that ends in overhanging cliffs above the Weisse Lütschine.The stream, on reaching the verge of the rocky walls of the valley, forms a cascade so high that it is almost lost in spray before it reaches the level of the valley. After rain, and early in the season when fed by the melting snows, the Staubbach Fall is a very striking object. Switzerland Summer 2017

By far my favorite country in Europe and one of the cleanest places on earth. I am so grateful and thankful for Chloé Schnorhk. She went above and beyond to show me around her gorgeous country. We went hiking, swimming to the lake, running, shopping at the farmer's market, prep vegan meals and sightseeing. She even organized a vegan-potluck where I met the most amazing souls. I didn't want to leave Switzerland, to be honest. I can not wait to come back next summer and spend more time there.

The Rhône Glacier (German: Rhonegletscher/ Valais German: Rottengletscher) is a glacier in the Swiss Alps and the source of the river Rhône and one of the primary contributors to Lake Geneva in the far eastern end of the Swiss canton of Valais. Because the Glacier is located close to the Furka Pass road it is easily accessible.
The Rhône Glacier is the largest glacier in the Urner Alps. It lies on the south side of the range at the source of the Rhône. The Undri Triftlimi (3,081 m) connects it to the Trift Glacier. The glacier is located on the northernmost part of the canton of Valais, between the Grimsel Pass and the Furka Pass and is part of the Oberwald municipality. The Dammastock (3,630 m) is the highest summit above the glacier.

We Wanna Go around the world! In vlog #17, We drive our rental car (BMW) from Innsbruck, Austria to the small Alpen town of Vipiteno. Vipiteno (also known as Sterzing) is located in the autonomous province of Bolzano in Trentino-Alto Adige. The city is part of the most beautiful villages in Italy (a national circuit and guild). During our road trip, we try a little taste of Italian cuisine, roam the old streets and enjoy a little Christmas Market before heading back to our Innsbruck AirBnB.
