Namibia erleben / Teil 46-Übernachtung in Twee Rivieren/Blümchentour
TWEE RIVIEREN RESTCAMP
Twee Rivieren
In a setting such as the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park's, where striking red sand dunes are offset by sparse, hardy vegetation and resilient desert wildlife, Twee Rivieren camp possesses the character and stature of a desert camp to be remembered. Occupying an impressive position on the dry Nossob river bed, the camp is particularly well noted for its seasonal migrations of desert herbivores, such as blue wildebeest and red hartebeest, as well as the ever-trailing predators, yielding exciting hunts and game viewing from virtually all corners of the camp.
This camp is the administrative headquarters of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier National Park as a whole, and the largest rest camp within its borders.
Willkommen in Namibia - Deutsch - teil1 - www.embnamibia.at
Namibia -Africa's best keept secret!
Namibia is a land of wonderful contrasts - the icy Benguela current sweeps up its western shore, home to an abundance of fish life. Ghostly fog floats from the shore to lie suspended over the brooding Namib Desert, providing much needed moisture to desert-adapted flora and fauna.
The haunting Skeleton Coast hides shipwrecks in its misty waters and crumbling bones in its sandy shores, while the well-adapted desert elephants and rhinos roam the rocky hills of Damaraland and Kaokoveld further to the north. Revel in the game-rich Etosha Park or follow the meandering Zambezi and Chobe Rivers through the Caprivi Strip, home to glorious sunsets, vast elephant populations and honking hippos.

Gobi Desert, Dornogov Aimag/Inner Mongolia, Mongolia/China, Asia
The Gobi Desert is a large desert region in Asia. It covers parts of northern and northwestern China, and of southern Mongolia. The desert basins of the Gobi are bounded by the Altai Mountains and the grasslands and steppes of Mongolia on the north, by the Taklamakan Desert to the west, by the Hexi Corridor and Tibetan Plateau to the southwest, and by the North China Plain to the southeast. The Gobi is notable in history as part of the great Mongol Empire, and as the location of several important cities along the Silk Road. The Gobi is a rain shadow desert, formed by the Tibetan Plateau blocking precipitation from the Indian Ocean reaching the Gobi territory.

Maspalomas Sand Dunes, Spain
Maspalomas Dunes are one of the most picturesque places in Gran Canaria , representing a piece of sandy desert, which spreads over 4 km along the coastal area of the island. The sand originated from coral reefs crushed into reasonable golden grains of limestone by the grinding action of glaciers approximately more than thousands of years ago. The present ocean dragged them to the shore and ultimately wind accumulated them into dunes.
This site is in close proximity to the eponymous town and attracts many tourists. Around the tower comfortable hotels and beautiful green lawn for golf lovers is so revered aristocratic sport. The dunes are constantly moving, although the movement is absolutely unnoticeable to the eye and is several meters per year. Against the background of azure-blue waters of the Atlantic Sands look extremely colorful in different seasons and together form an incredibly beautiful picture painted by nature. The sand of the more than 32-ft (10 m) high dunes was not blown over from the Sahara - as often presumed – but has maritime origins; it is made of finely grind lime shells of mussels. Maspalomas Dunes are the result of crushed coral in the sand, due to the natural chaos caused by the ice age. Since 1994, Maspalomas has got the status of a nature reserve 403 hectares, which continues inland another outstanding park Gran Canaria - La Charco. There remained a unique lake, under pressure dunes periodically changes its coastline.
Beach area somewhere equipped with sun loungers, umbrellas and showers, but there are wild places for fans of classic holiday in peace and quiet, in the absence of infrastructure. Sand, especially in the middle of the day, it is very hot, so you should take with a beach shoes. Maspalomas Dunes certainly worthy of special attention, and definitely worth it to give them a little time during your stay on the island of Gran Canaria.
At the western end of this nature reserve you’ll find El Oasis, which is bordered by La Charca, the remains of a sea-water lagoon bordered with palm trees, hosting many species of migratory birds from Europe stopping here on their route to Africa.
