Goldfield is an unincorporated community and the county seat of Esmeralda County, Nevada. It is a census-designated place, with a resident population of 268 at the 2010 census, down from 440 in 2000. Goldfield is located 247 miles southeast of Carson City, along U.S. Route 95. Goldfield was a boomtown in the first decade of the 20th century due to the discovery of gold – between 1903 and 1940, Goldfield's mines produced more than $86 million.     Ubehebe Craters is a volcanic field in California. In northern Death Valley, it consists of up to 16 craters in a 3-square-kilometre area. The largest of these craters is the 800 metres wide and 235 metres deep Ubehebe Crater, but many of these craters are partially buried and thus poorly recognizable. Additional volcanic features present include a remnant of a scoria cone as well as a tuff cone. The Ubehebe Craters are associated with a fault system that runs across them.
