Time Lapse: Day Trip to Mount Rushmore and the Black Hills, South Dakota
July 11, 2016 - Welcome to Rapid City, South Dakota! The second largest city in the state is located at the northeastern edge of the Black Hills, a beautiful small mountain range at the edge of the Badlands and the endless Great Plains.
Today was a beautiful day for a drive through these stunning hills along the winding highways to the iconic site of Mount Rushmore, the nearby and lesser known (but still awesome) Crazy Horse, and even through Wind Caves National Park.
To end the day I accomplish another task I've always wanted to do: visit the state of Nebraska. I want to set foot in all 50 states one day, and this was the closest I'd ever been to Nebraska before, so hey, may as well accomplish this dream - especially considering I always figured Nebraska would be the last new state I would visit.
After that it's a quick drive back to Rapid City for a nice, quiet evening.
