Grand Traverse County is a county located in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2010 census, the population was 86,986. The county seat is Traverse City.According to the United States Census Bureau, it is estimated that the population of Grand Traverse County in July 2017 was 91,807. Grand Traverse County is part of the Traverse City, MI Micropolitan Statistical Area, which also includes Benzie, Kalkaska, and Leelanau counties. Interlochen, home of the Interlochen Center for the Arts is located in Green Lake Township. Grand Traverse County was originally known as Omeena County.

    The Dennos Museum Center, located in Traverse City, Michigan is a museum of fine art affiliated with Northwestern Michigan College . The museum opened in 1991, and consists of three changing exhibit galleries and a sculpture court, an Interactive Discovery Gallery for children and adults, and the Inuit Gallery. The museum has a permanent collection of over 2,000 works, over half of which are Inuit prints and sculpture. It has three exhibition galleries that cover 8,000 square feet . After receiving donations totaling $3 million in 2015, the museum is expected to expand its Inuit Gallery.The museum is also home to the Milliken Auditorium, a 367-seat concert hall that hosts an annual concert series emphasizing world, jazz and blues music along with NMC and community events.
