The town of Somerfield in Somerset County PA was taken for the Yough Dam in 1946 and covered with water. Once in a while the water level is so low that the historic 1818 US 40 bridge comes out of the water. Here is some then and now along with film today.

This property was hit really bad by Hurricane Ivan in 2004 and again by Hurricane Wilma in 2005, and suffered damages from unimaginable amounts of flooding. The owners have since been involved with extensive clean up and repair work to get the building back into shape. They plan to reopen soon, but have yet to announce an official date.

Rare Mystery coke ovens Allegheny County Pittsburgh PA
Only known coke oven ruins in allegheny county. Located off 5th Ave N Versailles/East Mckeesport these only come out when the leaves drop. Do not know their history, but very few coke oven operations existed in Allegheny county. Ironically, the main modern coke operations are in fact in Clairton, Allegheny county!

East Bound from Ohio into West Virginia, I have been through Wheeling multiple times over the course of my life, usually on I 70. So, after finding some information on the Wheeling Suspension Bridge and other local attractions we decided to wander around a little bit and have some lunch.
