Grevenbroich is a town in the Rhein-Kreis Neuss, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is situated on the river Erft, approximately 15 km southwest of Neuss and 15 km southeast of Mönchengladbach. The Cistercian Order has a monastery in Langwaden. Grevenbroich is about 30 kilometres northwest of Cologne.

The Tagebau Garzweiler is a surface mine in the German state of North-Rhine Westphalia. It is operated by RWE and used for mining lignite. The mine currently has a size of 48 km² and got its name from the village of Garzweiler which previously existed at this location. The community was moved to a section of Jüchen with the same name.

The park was opened in 1967 by Gottlieb Löffelhardt and Richard Schmidt. Although starting as a family-oriented park, Phantasialand has also added thrill rides, especially during recent years. Furthermore, following the example of Europa-Park, they have decided to attract business customers beside the regular ones, calling it Business to Pleasure.Among the park's thrill rides is Taron , Black Mamba and a themed Mine Train roller coaster called Colorado Adventure, which runs among some mountains in the park's Wild West section and was opened by Michael Jackson.

The Marksburg is a castle above the town of Braubach in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is one of the principal sites of the Rhine Gorge UNESCO World Heritage Site. The fortress was used for protection rather than as a residence for royal families. It has a striking example of a bergfried designed as a butter-churn tower. Of the 40 hill castles between Bingen am Rhein and Koblenz the Marksburg was the only one which was never destroyed.

THE BEST DAY TRIPS FROM DUSSELDORF, GERMANY

I’ve just come back from travelling around Germany for 10 days and one of my favourite spots was Dusseldorf.

I have to admit I’m not the best at geography sometimes, but when I arrived in the city I quickly discovered there were some great day trips from Dusseldorf, all just a short train ride away.

I’d heard of Cologne, Dortmund and Essen but I never realised they were so close together. That meant as soon as I arrived in Düsseldorf I wanted to explore all North Rhine-Westphalia had to offer. (That’s the name of the region where you’ll find all of these places by the way!)

Throw in some crazy industrial landscapes like Zeche Zollverein and Duisburg Landschaftspark (just wait until you see the photos) and you’ve got the making of a fantastic few days in and around Dusseldorf.

Nachdem jemand hier den Park schlecht gemacht hat, musste ich mir selber ein Bild machen. Ich war mit meiner Frau und meinem Sohn da. Ich finde den Park, da ich selber als Kind schon dor gewesen bin, schön und werde wieder hingehen.
