Mexico City Vacation Travel Guide | Expedia
Mexico City is one of the financial powerhouses and cultural capitals of Latin America; it’s also a city of color.
Mexico City’s colors run deepest in the main square, the Zócalo, once the epicenter of the Mexican Civilization. Today, this area is presided over by a temple of a different kind, The Metropolitan Cathedral.
Throughout the Centro Histórico district, over 1500 heritage buildings vie for your attention. The streets of this district overflow with museums and galleries. For a window into the life and color of yesteryear, visit the fabulous Museo Franz Mayer.
For a change of color, head to Chapultepec Park, one of the largest urban parks in the world. The park is home to cultural institutions such as the Auditorio Nacional and the Museum of Anthropology, as well as the popular Chapultepec Zoo.
Pay your respects to the Niños Heroes, a monument which honors the six boy soldiers who gave their lives defending Castillo de Chapultepec. Today, the castle serves as the National Museum of History.
Just to the north is Nuevo Polanco, a former warehouse area rapidly being transformed by new architectural visions, such as the Museo Soumaya and Museo Jumex.
To the south of the city is Coyoacán. In the early 20th century the district’s artists, writers and intellectuals inspired not only Mexico, but the entire world. Visit The Blue House, the birthplace of Frieda Kahlo, and the Museo Casa Estudio Diego Rivera y Frida Kahlo, where these two giants of Mexican art worked, lived and loved.
Just to the south are the incredible murals and buildings of Ciudad Universitaria, which, when constructed in the 1950s, was the city’s largest single building project since the time of the Aztecs.
The spirit of bohemia continues amid the sophisticated hues and beauty of districts such as Roma and Condesa. At Xochimilco, simply float away on a riot of color on the last of the city’s Aztec canals.
In Mexico City there is color everywhere, and once you experience it, your memories will never fade.
Things that SHOCKED US about Mexico City
When we visited Mexico City, we found that a lot surprised us! We also share the big mistakes we made in CDMX.
►Subscribe to our channel:
Mexico City is full of shocks and surprises! In the massive CDMX metropolis of more than 20 million people, the number of things that are going to surprise you is off the charts, typical culture shocks aside!
This city is one of the museum capitals of the world - you can barely throw a rock without hitting one! From the highly acclaimed Anthropology Museum, to Chapultepec Castle, to the free-of-charge Museo Soumaya, there are endless things to for the museum lovers of the world.
Not a museum lover? No problem. Go check out the massive Chapultepec Park, go skiing just outside of the city, eat at some of the best restaurants in the world, and pig out on cheap (but awesome) street food! Visit 6 flags for a day of thrills or go check out the Historic Center.
That leads us into something else that totally shocked us about Mexico City, the massive variety between the old and the new. You can visit Aztec ruins that are many hundreds of years old or you can head to Santa Fe and visit La Mexicana Park while you check out the beautiful skyline (as we do in this video). The skyscrapers don’t end in Santa Fe, though. They are spread out throughout the entire city - Mexico City is full of thriving business.
Watch out, though! It’s not all good. Something else that was a shock to us is the massive number of thieves (specifically pickpockets.) The city has a lot of them and you really have to watch your stuff and watch your back. If you’re planning on traveling around using the subway, you better have your belongings secure!
Among quite a few other things that shocked us about CDMX, we also take the time to recap our trip and talk about the mistakes we made during our Mexico City trip. Where to stay, transportation, food, and prices, we have it all covered here in this video!

The INSANE STORMS of Guadalajara!!
Living in Guadalajara, Mexico is always an adventure! Today, we were met with three surprises in Mexico.
►Get perks on PATREON:
In today's video, we try out a brand new restaurant in Guadalajara, Jalisco. Although it seemed like it was way out of our budget and too fancy for the likes of us, we were pleasantly surprised by what ended up happening.
Shortly after, we got a few drinks nearby and were met with some crazy weather in Mexico. Out of nowhere, the heavens opened up and we started to see some of the Guadalajara Mexico weather that people have told us about. We can't give away too much about this Mexico insane weather, but it was something that completely surprised us in this Guadalajara vlog!
Later in the video about our life in Guadalajara Mexico, we go to pick up a surprise guest from the airport. It was our first time heading to the airport in Guadalajara and we share how much an Uber costs to get back to the city.
What do you think was the biggest surprise? We think it was the insane weather in Mexico! Guadalajara is full of great surprises. :)

Guadalajara is the 10th largest Latin American city in population,[12] urban area[12] and gross domestic product.[13] The city is named after the Spanish city of Guadalajara, the name of which came from the Andalusian Arabic wād(i) l-ḥijāra (واد الحجارة or وادي الحجارة), meaning river/valley of stones.[14] The city's economy is based on services and industry, especially information technology, with a large number of international firms having regional offices and manufacturing facilities in the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area, and several domestic IT companies headquartered in the city. Other, more traditional industries, such as shoes, textiles and food processing are also important contributing factors. (for more information visit: )
