San Jose was officially founded as California's first civilian settlement on 29 November 1777, the first city founded in the California. On 11 July 1846, Captain Thomas Fallon conquered San Jose for the California Republic in the Mexican–American War, officially ending Mexican rule in Alta California.

CLIMATE

COMMUNICATION
Rail service to and from San Jose is provided by Amtrak. VTA also operates many bus routes in San Jose and the surrounding communities, as well as offering paratransit services to local residents. Additionally, the Highway 17 Express bus line connects central San Jose with Santa Cruz. San Jose is served by Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport,two miles northwest of downtown, and by Reid-Hillview Airport of Santa Clara County a general aviation airport located in the eastern part of San Jose.
GOVERNMENT
The city has a council-manager government with a city manager nominated by the mayor and elected by the city council. The San Jose City Council is made up of ten council members elected by district, and a mayor elected by the entire city. During city council meetings, the mayor presides, and all eleven members can vote on any issue. The mayor has no veto powers. Council members and the mayor are elected to four-year terms. The City Manager is the chief administrative officer of the city.
ARCHITECTURE
San Jose has many examples of houses with fine architecture. Late 19th century and early 20th century styles exist in neighborhoods such as Hanchett Park, Naglee Park, Rose Garden, and Willow Glen. Notable architects include Frank Delos Wolfe, Theodore Lenzen, Charles McKenzie and Julia Morgan.

San Antonio River Walk
A network of walkways along the banks of the San Antonio River. Lined by bars, shops and restaurants, the River Walk is an important part of the city's urban fabric and a tourist attraction in its own right.

A water park. Opened in 1985 as Water Park USA. Located on the city's inner northeast side. Features a half-million-gallon wave pool, a quarter-mile-long lazy river, 40 water slides and tube rides, activity pool with lily pads and balance logs, water and beach volleyball.
Mission Concepcion
Was established in 1716 as Nuestra Señora de la Purísima Concepción de los Hainais in East Texas. It was originally meant to be a base for converting the Hasinai. Catholic Mass is still held every Sunday.
San Antonio Botanical Garden
A 33-acre (130,000 m2), non-profit botanical garden. Was first conceived in the 1940s by Mrs. R. R. Witt and Mrs. Joseph Murphy. fficially opened to the public on May 3, 1980.
Morgan's Wonderland
A 25 acres (10 ha) accessible amusement park for children and adults with special cognitive and physical needs. The park, which opened in April, 2010, was developed by Gordon Hartman. The very first theme park of its kind. Admission for those with special needs is free.

Redondo Beach is one of the three Beach Cities located in Los Angeles County, California, United States. The population was 66,748 at the 2010 census, up from 63,261 at the 2000 census. The city is located in the South Bay region of the greater Los Angeles area.
Redondo Beach was originally part of the 1785 Rancho San Pedro Spanish land grant that later became the South Redondo area. The city's territory has an unusual shape including an area along the beach (South Redondo Beach) and another strip inland from Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach (North Redondo Beach). The primary attractions include Municipal Pier and the sandy beach, popular with tourists and a variety of sports enthusiasts. The western terminus of the Metro Rail Green Line is in North Redondo Beach.
