Perhaps you know a few but not all - especially those located in neighboring states and those more than 50 miles away from your home. I suggest that they are National Forest, Army Corps of Engineers, National Park Service, and State Park campgrounds with 75 or more campsites. Where is a good tent camping destination in North Alabama? Well, there are several but Monte Sano State Park located near Huntsville is one of the best. The campground has 89 large crushed-stone campsites that can accomodate both RVs and tents, two nice bath houses, and 18 extra large primitive campsites. The cool mountain top location offers over 20 miles of hiking and mountain biking trails, beautiful scenic views, a disc golf course, a large playground, dozens of CCC structures, and an observatory.
