Episode 4:
The first episode from my multi-part Japan Rail Series — a visual journey showcasing a variety of destinations during a 21-day rail itinerary across Japan. With an emphasis on capturing photography and video of aesthetic locations during the winter time, this journey aims to inspire people to visit the beautiful urban and rural destinations of Japan!
This first episode covers our journey from Sapporo in Hokkaido, through Hakodate and onto Ginzan Onsen. We visited viewpoints at the Mt. Moiwa ropeway and Sapporo TV Tower followed by dinner and drinks at the Sapporo Bier Garten. Onwards to Hakodate via a 3-hour train journey, we then travelled another ropeway up Mt. Hakodate. The following day's 7-hour train journey, lead us towards Ginzan Onsen, a quaint traditional village famous for its onsen ryokans and scenic snowy landscape during winter.
This whole trip and itinerary was planned and paid for independent of any tourism boards or businesses. The locations and accommodations are our genuine preferences and recommendations, as standard across the content on this channel. Exploring a JAPANESE DESERT?: Tottori, Japan!
Joe and I decided to take a day trip to Tottori and check out their famous desert! It attracts about 2 million tourists each year. It's Japan's largest sand dune ecosystem and is even used for arid research. These sand dunes stretch for 30 square miles! We even saw people paragliding there! After we explored until we couldn't take the heat anymore, we headed for some food and the beach. ...Although we did get distracted by a shrine for a moment there. The beach was super relaxing and even though the drive was a long one, it was incredibly beautiful and worth it. :) I hope you enjoy!
