About Kolavai lake,
----------------------------
Kolavai Lake is situated in the Kancheepuram district of Tamil Nadu, India. The town of Chengalpattu lies at the southern end of the lake. It is located about 60 kilometres (37 mi) from Chennai, near to the Chengalpattu Junction railway station. Kolavai lake, spread across 802 hectares, has the capacity to hold nearly 476 million cubic feet of water. It is fed by nearly 25 tanks located upstream in places such as Paranur, Hanumanthapuram and Kunnavakkam, and has a catchment area spread over 53 sq. km.
There is a proposal to improve the aesthetics of the lake through a public-private partnership initiative, and further encourage tourism. It may be recalled that the tourism department operated a boat club here until a few years ago. However, the water body is heavily silted now.

Gandhi Road Market of Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu
Busy streets of Gandhi road market in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu. It is probably the best place to buy Kanjeevaram sarees as you see there are several shops which specifically deals in Kanjeevaram silk.
The major occupations of Kanchipuram are silk sari weaving and agriculture. As of 2008, an estimated 5,000 families were involved in sari production. The main industries are cotton production, light machinery and electrical goods manufacturing, and food processing. There are 25 silk and cotton yarn industries, 60 dyeing units, 50 rice mills and 42 other industries in the Kanchipuram. Another important occupation is tourism and service related segments like hotels, restaurants and local transportation.
Kanchipuram is a traditional centre of silk weaving and handloom industries for producing Kanchipuram Saris. The industry is worth ₹ 100 cr (US$18.18 million), but the weaving community suffers from poor marketing techniques and duplicate market players. In 2005, Kanchipuram Silk Sarees received the Geographical Indication tag, the first product in India to carry this label. The silk trade in Kanchipuram began when King Raja Raja Chola I (985–1014) invited weavers to migrate to Kanchi. The craft increased with the mass migration from Andhra Pradesh in the 15th century during the Vijayanagara rule. The city was razed during the French siege of 1757, but weaving re-emerged in the late 18th century.

Unique temple @Chennai, Sri Maha Bairavar Rudhra Temple near Mahindra world city. May -2018
Attractive Unique temple near chennai,
Bhairava Temple is located at Thiruvadisoolam village near Chengalpet in Kanchipuram District of Tamilnadu. The temple is under construction in a round shape facing east. The inside shape is like Siva Lingam and bright lights were installed around the ceiling. The ten storey tall structure with the main and sub shrines completed in five and a half months. The circular sanctum sanctorum is in two levels. Twelve steps each were representing a sign of the zodiac (the twelve Raasis) lead to the higher level where the main deity of the temple - Sri Kshetra Paala Bhairava stands in all his glory.
Enshrined in a transparent glass enclosure, with strands of Rudrakshas on either side of the opening, the Bhairava can be approached from the stairs behind. In olden days, there were entrances on either side of the sanctum sanctorum so that visitors enter and exit the temple without showing their back to the deity. The construction of the stairs behind the deity ensures that visitors come around and pray and are able to descend without showing their backs to the deity.
Beneath the Bhairava, in the lower level are installed the Ashta Bhairavas, Saptha Rishis in the form of stones, and Saptha Kannis in the form of brass lamps. There are a number of little blue and white lights in the ceiling that is shaped like a dome which give an ethereal atmosphere when switched on. The steps represent the twelve signs of the zodiac and when one steps over them to reach the sanctum sanctorum all the doshas pertaining to the horoscope are cleared once and for all. A special “Padi Pooja is performed on Chitra Pournami day which falls on the 14th of April every year.
Kanakadasa birth place & palace
Kanaka Dasa (1509 – 1609) was a poet, philosopher, musician and composer from modern Karnataka. He is known for his Kirtanes and Ugabhoga, compositions in Kannada language for Carnatic music. Like other Haridasas, he used simple Kannada language and native metrical forms for his compositions.
Thimmappa Nayaka was his original name and he belonged to a chieftain family of Kaginele in Haveri district. He was born to the couple Biregowda and Bachchamma at Baada village. Kanaka Nayaka being of the warrior community his defeat in the field of battle, directed him to the path of devotion. He came to be called Kanaka Nayaka as he founded many treasure-trove of gold (kanaka means gold in Kannada) during his childhood and never used for self. Kanaka Dasa was well educated and capable of analyzing the society microscopically. Based on one of his compositions it is interpreted that after he severely got injured in a war and was miraculously saved, he gave up his profession as a warrior and devoted his life to composing music and literature with philosophy explained in common man's language. It appears that he started traveling to places a lot to gain more knowledge.
His writing started showing his innovativeness in using day to day activities of common man. For e.g. Ramadhyana Mantra is a poetic expression of conflicts between rich and poor classes where he uses ragi ( staple food of poor and high in nutrients) and rice(main food of rich but not as rich in nutrients) to synonymously to represent poor and rich. He joined Haridasa movement and became a follower of Vyasaraja who named him as Kanakadasa. His poems and krithi deal with many aspects of life and expose the futility of external rituals. They stress the need for cultivation of moral values in life. Similar to Purandara Daasa, Kanaka Daasa’s compositions addressed social issues in addition to devotional aspect. Kanaka Daasa was very aggressive and straight forward in criticizing evils of society such as superiority claims using castesystem.
Kanakadasa has a special association with Udupi as he was the follower of Vyasaraya Swamiji. On the request of Vyasaraya Swamiji of Vyasaraja Math he had come to Udupi. But it was an era when discrimination on the basis of caste was at its peak. The Brahmin priests would not let him enter the temple as he was from a low caste though Vyasaraya swamiji asked them to let Kanakadasa into the temple. Kanakadasa was outside the temple meditating on Lord Krishna and singing songs in praise of his Lord, Krishna. Every Hindu temple and the deity in the Hindu temple always faces east. But in Udupi, Krishna, the deity faces west. During those days, Kanaka was not allowed to have darshan of Krishna, with devotion when he sang kirthanas, the deity of Lord Krishna turned around and there was a crack in the outer walls of the temple through which the ardent devotee of Krishna, Kanakadasa was able to see his Lord.
In his birth place Baada his ancestral palace which had ruined has been newly renovated and also there is a temple dedicated to him. Now this is a tourist attraction place in Baada. Devotees should visit this place.
