Hofsøy is furthest south of Senja. It is one of several small villages on the peninsula Stonglandet. Stonglandet is located in Tranøy municipality in Troms and is connected to the rest of the island through the Stonglandseidet. Other settlements located on Stonglandet are Valvåg, Lekangsund and Stangnes located on the eastern and south side, while Hofsøy is in the west.
On Hofsøya there are several memory areas with burial mounds and house lifts. In the 1970s, a long house from the Iron Age was discovered during an excavation.

Oslo is the capital and the most populous city in Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. Founded in the year 1040, and established as a kaupstad or trading place in 1048 by Harald Hardrada, the city was elevated to a bishopric in 1070 and a capital under Haakon V of Norway around 1300.

Hiking Trip to Trolltunga, Norway
On 14 August 2015, to celebrate Pakistan Independence Day, we made a wonderful hiking trip to Trolltunga. Here are video Highlights...
Trolltunga is a piece of rock jutting horizontally out of a mountain about 700 metres above the north side of the lake Ringedalsvatnet in the municipality of Odda in Hordaland county, Norway. The name translated to English is The Troll's tongue. (A troll is a supernatural being in Norse mythology, reside in isolated rocks, mountains, or caves, live together in small family units, and are rarely helpful to human beings.) The cliff is part of the precambrian bedrock and was formed during the ice age, approximately 10,000 years ago, when the edges of the glacier reached the cliff. The water from the glacier froze in the crevices of the mountain and eventually broke off large, angular blocks, which were later carried away with the glacier. Along the cliff itself, a gneiss, there continues to be deep cracks.
The hike in the mountains to Trolltunga is an 8-10 hour walk in total, about 22 kilometers, with a height difference of about 900 meters.
Discover And Enjoy Unknown Places In The Netherlands
Discover and enjoy new and unknown places is what we love to do the most. While waiting for the birth of our mini nomad, we rented this cool camper of Sun Living and went out for a short road trip in the Netherlands. By using the Tom Tom Go Camper, it was easy and a worry-free road trip.
Tom Tom reached out to us to try their new sat nav for RV and caravan drivers. Check the site for more details:

Norway. Kjerag plateau. Lysefjord. This is one of the most popular hikes in Norway. Kjeragbolten is a boulder located on the mountain Kjerag in Forsand municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. The rock itself is a 5-cubic-metre (180 cu ft) glacial deposit wedged in the mountain's crevasse. It is a popular tourist destination and is accessible without any climbing equipment. However, it is suspended above a 984-metre (3,228 ft) deep abyss. It is also a popular site for BASE jumping. The boulder is located just southwest of the village of Lysebotn, just south of the Lysefjorden.
Old Muskego - 1st Norwegian Lutheran Church in USA - Luther Seminary
The Norwegian Lutheran Church or Old Muskego Church stands on the edge of the campus of Luther Seminary in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Old Muskego Church was erected by Norwegian-American Lutherans near Waterford in the Wind Lake area of Racine County, Wisconsin in 1844, four years before Wisconsin became a state. It was originally built in the Muskego Settlement near Muskego, Wisconsin, by Norwegian immigrant settlers. Heres a link to an outstanding booklet about the settlement and the church.
Even Hansen Heg (1789 - 1850), father of Civil War Hero Hans Christian Heg, donated the land on which the original church was built. Within the first year of construction, the congregation called pioneer Lutheran minister Claus Lauritz Clausen, to serve as the first minister. Clausen would be followed by Hans Gerhard Stub, future Bishop of the Norwegian Lutheran Church in America. The congregation made use of the facility for 25 years, replacing the building with a new church in 1869.
Principally through the efforts of historian, Hjalmar Holand, the Old Muskego Church was purchased, taken apart, moved and re-assembled in Saint Paul, Minnesota in 1904. The Minnesota Historical Society dedicated the church a State Historical Site in 1963. It is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Heres a video made by Luther Seminary
The string instrument that comes to us from Norway and Sweden. In the early 19th century violins were not allowed in Scandinavian churches because they were used to accompany dancing. Most rural churches couldn't afford a piano or an organ. So this simple instrument, along with a numbered notation system called Sifferskrift, became a popular way to teach hymns to the congregation.
