Higashikawa is known for the Photo Koshien, where high-school students from all over Japan compete in photography. It is a town of 7,800, located in the inland basin of Kamikawa, central Hokkaido.
The eastern part of the town includes the highest peak (2,291m) of the Taisetsu Mountain range, and is a part of the Taisetsu National Park, the largest natural park in Japan with large scale forested areas. The foothills include the Asahidake Hot Springs surrounded by primary forests, Tenninkyo, which is tucked between sheer cliffs, and the Hagoromo Falls that fall from a height of 270meters, the highest in Hokkaido, and the natural Tenninkyo Hot Springs that flow in the ravine.

This Japan vlog shows why you need to visit the town of Higashikawa in Hokkaido, Japan. The countryside, especially up north in Hokkaido, turns into a magical winter wonderland where you can go snow shoeing, skiing, snowboarding, or towed around a field on an inflatable banana. There is SO MUCH snow everywhere and everything looks so beautiful.
We spent 3 nights staying in Higashikawa where we attended their annual snow and ice sculpture festival. We also went skiing at Canmore Village, went to the top of Asahidake Mountain, found the water source and explored the natural beauty of the region.

After staying Shiretoko for two nights, we came up to North Fox Farm, which is located in Kitami.
The foxes are literally so adorable..
And after that, we stayed in Higashikwa town, which is recently very popular for migrants from other areas in Japan.
The reason is because of the beauty of nature, ecosystem(free water), child friendly, and so on.
Since there are also a lot of fancy cafes which bring delicious and special dishes, we comfortably spent the good time.
And Asahiyama zoo is one of the most popular zoo in Japan.
Because the consciousness to animal welfare for people in Hokkaido is so strong and they treat animals as it is as natural as possible.

景色もご飯も人の温かさも本当に素晴らしかった。
また更に日本が大好きになりました。
知床半島で2泊過ごした後、まずは北見の北きつね牧場に訪れました。
野生のキタキツネに触れると、エコキノックス症という死に至る感染症のリスクがあります。
しかし、この牧場のキツネは清潔に保たれているので、触っても大丈夫(すぐ逃げるので触らしてくれませんが笑)
可愛すぎて、めちゃくちゃ癒されました。
その後は、現在移住先として大人気の東川町で二泊。
東川町は、上下水道がない北海道で唯一の町。
大雪山の雪解け水を生活水としてそのまま使うため、水道代が無料というのは驚き。
おしゃれで絶品料理を提供してくれるカフェも多く、心地よく過ごすことができました。
旭山動物園は、自然をこよなく愛する道民らしさが伝わる動物園です。
なるべく檻を使わず、動物が自然体で過ごせるように工夫が施されてました。
日本でもトップクラスに人気を誇るのにも頷けます。
