Places to see in ( West Bromwich - UK )
West Bromwich is a town in Sandwell, West Midlands, England. Historically part of Staffordshire, West Bromwich is located to the northwest of Birmingham. West Bromwich County Borough was expanded in 1966 to include the bulk of Tipton and Wednesbury, while a small part of the south-eastern section of the town was absorbed into the new Warley County Borough which was centered on neighbouring Oldbury, Smethwick and Rowley Regis. The actual town boundaries of West Bromwich were also altered at this time, placing the Friar Park estate in Wednesbury, while the Hateley Heath area of Wednesbury was now within the borders of West Bromwich township.
West Bromwich's road links were further enhanced in 1995 on the completion of the Black Country Spine Road which also by-passes Wednesbury and the east of Bilston. The completion of this new road opened up several square miles of previously inaccessible land, and has allowed several major businesses to set up along the route. This has helped relieve some of the unemployment problems in West Bromwich, although most parts of the town still have the highest unemployment rates in the West Midlands.
The town is famous for its football club, West Bromwich Albion. The club was founded in 1878 and in 1888 it became one of the twelve founder members of the Football League. It won the league championship in 1920 and has won the FA Cup five times, most recently in 1968. The club were Football League Champions in 2008, winning automatic promotion to the Premier League. Albion were based in and around the centre of West Bromwich during their formative years, but moved further out of the town in 1900 when they switched to their current ground, The Hawthorns. The Hawthorns is the highest football ground (above sea level) in the country.
West Bromwich Town Hall, situated in the centre of the High Street, is a Grade II listed building. It was built between 1874 and 1875 in brick and stone to an Italian Gothic design, and its interior reflects the Victorian interest in Gothic and Medieval architecture. West Bromwich Manor House, Hall Green Road B71 2EA. Built by the de Marnham family in the late 13th century as the centre of their agricultural estate in West Bromwich only the Great Hall survives of the original complex of living quarters, agricultural barns, sheds and ponds.
West Bromwich is a culturally diverse area with many places of worship for several different religions. The Church of England provides the most places of worship across the geographically wider West Bromwich Deanery (taking in West Bromwich, Hill Top, Stone Cross, Carter's Green, Holy Trinity, All Saint's, St Andrew's, St Francis, Friar Park and others) which contains nine Anglican churches. West Bromwich has three main mosques, two on Dartmouth Street. The Main mosque of West Bromwich is the Jami Masjid and Islamic Centre based at 67 Dartmouth Street which currently is being reconstructed to accommodate hundreds of people.
For roads, the M5 motorway between the West Midlands and the West Country and its junction with the M6 motorway passes through the town, making West Bromwich at the hub of Britain's motorway network. West Bromwich railway station was opened by the Great Western Railway on its route between Birmingham Snow Hill and Wolverhampton Low Level on 14 November 1854.

Rebuilding Main Street, Littleton, NH
With high speed traffic and heavy trucks transitioning from the Interstate and coming into town, following the status quo to rebuild Main Street would have torn out the heart and soul of Littleton. Instead New Hampshire Department of Transportation decided to make an investment in the community's future.
The project started out with experiments in narrowing sections of the roadway and adding back in angle parking. Despite some initial public weariness, the experiments got the citizenry passionate about the project, increased design awareness, and built support for change.
The end result was a project that improved traffic flow without sacrificing community character. Through traffic is important, but it can't be our primary motivation for what we do.

New Hampshire's North Country: Travel Video Postcard:
We are notorious off season travelers, and we found ourselves, post Thanksgiving pre Christmas. In New Hampshire's North Country...the towns that gather in the northwest foothills of the White Moutains, just east of the Vermont border.
Yes it was a bit bleak, but just a few-miles from our comfortable stay at the Sunset Hill House, in Sugar Hill, turns out it was the perfect time for the Rocks Christmas Tree Farm, in.....Bethlehem NH..( families scoured the hillsides in search of the perfect tree.
Or hitched a wagon ride with these beauties (handsome dark work horses)..who made the rounds every 15 minutes or so.
And inside the big barn at The Rocks, there were all kinds of handmade creations to explore, warm coca or cider to drink, even a
basket weaving demonstration. It's a great meditation.
But the high point for me was probably watching a delicious batch
of Kingdom Kernels kettle corn, pop to life....plump, light, and with a perfect balance of salt and sweet. The best! (kingdomkernelskettlecorn.com)
The Rocks is open year round, and is the center for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests
We also found some cheer in the-feisty village of Littleton NH, where we headed straight Chutters famous candy store ... who would not delight at the worlds longest penny candy counter.

The Ultimate Massachusetts Waterfalls Roadtrip
With all the snow melting, I decided to embark on the Ultimate Massachusetts Waterfalls Roadtrip in one weekend in April. It is a pretty insanely long road trip completely around Western Mass. at over 8 hours of just driving from the first waterfall, but they are all relatively easy hikes.
1.) Doane's Falls (Royalston) : Plenty of parking around the bridge, and really easy hike 5-10min to walk the whole thing. I would stop by here if I was going to kayaking around Tully lake which is beautiful in the Fall. It's really way out there though compared to the other falls. I'm not sure if I'll make an hour trip to go there, and then drive another hour to the next falls. Adventure, right?
2.)The Cascade (North Adams): Park on Marion Ave. next to a wooden fence for an easy 20 minute hike to these beautiful, quaint falls. It was really muddy and slippery especially near the base of the falls so be careful. Most of the mud I was covered in was from this hike. The trail isn't clearly marked, but just follow the path, and listen to the running water.
3.)Wahconah Falls (Dalton): Park on Back Dalton Rd on a little parking area pass the trailer homes and head down for another easy quick hike. These are small falls with a beautiful reservoir behind it if you hike up and over. A small picnic area for breakfast if you want to.
4.) March Cataract Falls (Adams, MA): When the main road opens to the summit of Mount Greylock. (Memorial Day in May to November 1) park next to the camping area on Sperry Rd off Rockwell Rd and follow the trail to the Falls. If the main road is closed, you can hike 2+ hours on the Roaring Brook Trail on Roaring Brook Rd in Williamstown, MA. There, you can hike up Mt. Greylock on the blue blazed trail for about 2 miles to the camping area on Sperry Rd and proceed to the falls. The last bridge is out on the trail but stay on the left of the brook towards Greylock and you'll hit the blue blazes again. There might be an easier way such as Hopper Rd trail, or others, but this was the shortest but strenuous hike to the falls. Make sure you have a map.
5.) Bash Bish Falls (Mt Washington): Easy hike to the falls on a wide developed trail. Park in the Taconic State Park in Copake Falls, NY and hike back over to Massachusetts for the falls. This is a must do, not because they're amazing, but because if you do a waterfalls trip, 10 people will ask you if you went to this one.
6.) Race Brook Falls (Sheffield): These are probably my favorite falls on this list. It's just amazing walking towards it. There is a little U parking area off of S Undermountain Rd, and a quick hike to the lower falls. There is also a trail up Mt Everett, just a really great place to explore and adventure around. Be aware, that these falls do dry up quick when water level becomes low, but when it is high... Wow.
7.) Umpachene Falls (New Marlborough): These are the lazy falls, and they are beautiful regardless. You can park on a little park area on the left after driving down a narrow dirt road. This would be a nice place for lunch since there are public grills, picnic tables, nice open grass to picnic (there's a cute bench tucked along the stream), though I'd probably lounge on the falls. It's a nice easy hike along these flat falls and a good way to relax and reflect, because there are two falls left.
8.) Campbell Falls (New Marlborough): You can take the easy way and park on the parking spot on Campbell Falls Rd or take a nice beautiful simple hike on the yellow blazed trail on Spaulding Rd. These falls are beautiful in the winter, but though not the largest, are probably the strongest. Definitely good times trying to climb around and enjoy the meadows around these falls. Time for a long hour drive to the last falls.
9.) Glendale Falls (Middlefield): Best for the last, maybe? These are spectacular when the water is running, and still beautiful even frozen over in winter. You can take the simple, easily accessible (stone stairs! how nice!) along the falls or like me and my friends, enjoy climbing up along the rocky cliffs of the falls. It's always sunny since it runs with the sun path, and a nice way to end the journey.
This trip is definitely nice, and there are other waterfalls around, but these are made for quick hikes and long drives. I'd definitely split it up for Doane's Falls by itself if you want to explore around Tully Lake, The Cascade, March Cataracts, and Wahconah if you're adventuring Mt. Greylock, and Bash Bish, Racing Brook, Umpachene, Campbell, and Glendale for a beautiful solid day of waterfalls.
So clean those lenses, have fun, and when the snow melts, you know it's waterfall season.

Cannon Mountain Summit - Franconia, NH
After a little more than 2 hours hiking up the Hi-Cannon Trail (That's why the Cannon Mountain hike was much harder than Pack Monadnock because Cannon is a much taller mountain being more than 4,000 vertical feet high), we finally reached the summit in which you can see a great view of the surroundings (including the towns of Bethlehem, NH and Littleton, NH to the north as well as unclear views of New York, Vermont, Maine, and Canada). We had our lunch on the observation tower and while we were up there, we could also see the Cannon Mountain Aerial Tramway (Which takes people up and down the mountain in under 6 minutes just to save some walking) as well views of I-93 (For which the cars look a lot like dwarves from the summit since they are so far away from the summit) as well as another view of Mt. Lafayette. We ended up hiking down Cannon Mountain through the Lonesome Lake Trail (Which was much more rocky), but overall we had a great time there indeed. Anyways, I hope you all enjoyed my videos of our trip to Cannon Mountain.
Note: The next time that I ever visit Cannon Mountain again (That if I ever do visit it again which is highly unlikely), I will take the Aerial Tramway up to the top of the mountain next time instead of hiking. Also, many people can also see Cannon Mountain as far south as Woodstock, NH while traveling on I-93 North through the White Mountains and Franconia Notch Parkway.

Hope you enjoy the aerial perspective of some locations I visited yesterday. Certainly not Oscar-worthy. But I am certainly gaining more courage to fly over water and closer to tree tops.
