Here's the itinerary for you sailors and water babies out there:
Day 1 Your Grenada charter itinerary starts at noon. Following the comprehensive yacht and chart briefing with Horizon Yacht Charters, depart from True Blue Bay with your Grenada sailing itinerary. Sail to St. George’s for the first stop, anchor off Ross Point for the night. If you are sailing with a crew you will depart earlier and sail directly to Carriacou on this day.
Day 2 Set off on an exhilarating day sail to Tyrrel Bay, Carriacou. Anchor amongst the local fishing boats and enjoy a stroll and drinks ashore at one of the local rum shops, or simply lounge in the cockpit and watch the sun set behind you.
Day 3 Breakfast and swim at Sandy Island while you watch the pelicans performing aerobatics around your boat. After snorkeling the reef, clear out in Hillsborough before sailing over to Clifton Harbour, Union to clear in and pick up fresh pineapple and homemade bread before taking a short sail to palm lined Salt Whistle Bay, Mayreau.
Day 4 Take an early morning stroll to the top of Mayreau and enjoy the stunning views of the surrounding islands. Afterwards it’s an hour’s sail to the Tobago Cays. Simply spectacular! Dine aboard under the stars after spending the day snorkeling and exploring the beaches of the cays.
Day 5 Spend the day snorkeling and exploring the Cays – since the area is protected the wealth of sea life is extraordinary. Just off the little island of Baradel is an area cordoned off for turtles to feed, and it’s an incredible experience to get close and swim with these remarkable animals. Explore the islands ashore and climb to their summits for the stunning views and watch the almost tame iguanas and land tortoises lumbering around.
Day 6 A four hour sail brings you to Admiralty Bay, Bequia, capital of the laid back Caribbean. Soak up the friendly, bustling atmosphere ashore, with an excellent meal at one of the many restaurants. Bequia’s famous for its wooden boat builders; take home a replica to remind you of your trip.
Day 7 Stock up on fresh provisions and then it’s a short cruise to chic Mustique, with a perfect swim stop at Petit Nevis on the way. Enjoy lunch at Basil’s Bar, or a sunset dinner at the Firefly while you dream of your holiday home on this perfect tropical island.
Day 8 Set off south again on your Grenada charter itinerary, this time heading for the west side of Union Island. Chatham Bay is your destination, a beautiful deserted bay surrounded by hills. Hike up for magnificent views or enjoy snorkeling along the north edge of the bay. A beach barbeque with a local chef can provide the entertainment on an otherwise quiet night.
Day 9 Back to Clifton Harbour to check out of St. Vincent, then a sail over to Petit St Vincent for the night, stopping at Mopion on the way, a flawless piece of sand in turquoise water topped with a small coconut thatch shelter for shade. Caribbean perfection! Spoil yourself for dinner if you want at PSV resort.
Day 10 Tyrell bay – St George’s; an exhilarating downwind sail to St George’s passing the isolated islands of Kick ‘em Jenny and Isle De Ronde. On arrival at St George’s anchor off Ross Point or for luxury book a slip at the new Port Louis Marina. Dine at the marina’s own restaurant or for some very authentic local cuisine go to BB’s Crab Back on the Carenage.
Day 11 A final morning’s sail around to True Blue where the Horizon staff will assist you to the dock for a noon finish on your Grenada sailing itinerary. True Blue Resort is just a few minutes ride from the airport and is a great place to base yourselves if you plan to be on island and explore for a few more days. Grenada is a spectacular island that offers excellent diving, island tours to old plantations, rain forest hikes and stunning beaches.
