Zip Idaho - The Full Experience
Zip Idaho Ziplines in Horseshoe Bend Idaho
Horseshoe Bend, near Page, Arizona, United States.
I arrived at Horseshoe bend after two days looking at the Grand Canyon...and it was still amazing. A free to enter location just outside Page, Arizona, it really is worth a detour.
**I have left the long walk to the canyon edge off this video but it is a good 30 minutes trek across sand in extreme heat so please be careful and take water. And it goes without saying, take care around the edge as there are NO safety barriers. People die here.

Horseshoe Bend Overlook
Recorded June 6, 2010.
Horseshoe Bend is the name for a horseshoe-shaped meander of the Colorado River located near the town of Page, Arizona. It is located slightly downstream from the Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell within Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, about four miles south of Page. Accessible via a ¾-mile hike from U.S. Route 89, it can be viewed from the steep cliff with a breathtaking 1,000 foot drop.
Also included at the end of the video is a scenic stretch of US89 south of Horseshoe Bend.

Lee's Ferry - Page, Arizona
From Wikepedia:
Lee's Ferry (also known as Lees Ferry, Lee Ferry, Little Colorado Station and Saints Ferry[1]) is a site on the Colorado River in Coconino County, Arizona in the United States, about 7.5 miles (12.1 km) southwest of Page and 9 miles (14 km) south of the Utah–Arizona border.
Due to its unique geography – the only place in hundreds of miles from which one can easily access the Colorado River from both sides – it historically served as an important river crossing and starting in the mid-1800s was the site of a ferry operated by John Doyle Lee, for whom it is named.

RV Travel Life | Lake Powell, Horsehoe Bend, and Truck Issues
On our way to Lake Powell the truck wanted to run a Regen Cycle. We are guessing it did not complete because instead of only site seeing today, we got to fix the truck too! It gave us an error code of P2463 which means basically it did not complete the Regen cycle, most likely because we were towing. The truck got mad and throttled the speed down to about 10% of it's capability. Gotta love DEF Systems!
We stopped by the Carl Hayden Visitors Center next to the Dam at Lake Powell. They had great information and maps of the area. We decided we had enough time left to see Horseshoe Bend. If you go to visit this, it is a little bit of a hike and the hills are rather steep to get out to it. Bring some water, wear sunscreen and probably a hat, also wear good shoes to hike in. It is very sandy so it's a little bit of a workout to get out there.
We finished running errands so that we can bring more fun activities that you can do around Lake Powell

S**t to do around Moscow - Episode 7: Grandmother Mountain
Grandmother mountain is my favorite hike in the Moscow area. I'm stretching the area a bit. The trailhead is an hour and a half away, though about 30 minutes of that time is spent on 13 miles of forest service roads, some of which may be gnarly for low-clearance vehicles. Nevertheless, Grandmother Mountain is within easy striking distance for a day's adventure. And what an adventure it is.
Grandmother Mountain is the closest hike to Moscow that will bring you above 6000 feet. At this elevation, we see plants associated with the sub-alpine zone. The forests are dominated with Mountain Hemlock, Engleman Spruce, and Whitebark Pine.
The hike is a moderate 5 miles round trip, with an optional 3 mile round trip extension to Grandfather Mountain. Be prepared for a short, but steep climb to the summit. On the ascent, there are plenty of views of the surrounding mountains and places to stop and relax.
Getting to the trailhead is not a walk in the park. The road is well-used, but not well maintained. Near the top, the road becomes very rocky and not suitable for low clearance vehicles. You can continue along the road past the trailhead for more great adventure, but only in a high clearance vehicle with good tires.
Other nearby attractions include:
- Hobo Cedar Grove and Botanical Area
- Emerald Creek Garnet Area
- Clarkia Fossil Bowl
Take ID 8 east to Bovill, and then ID 3 north to the tiny village of Clarkia. From here you'll get on FS-301 and follow it about 13 miles to the trailhead at the base of Mark's Butte. There will be a large map of the area at the trailhead.
