SCARED FOR MY LIFE! Sailing at 22 knots boat speed down HUGE waves (Sailing La Vagabonde) Ep. 105
Yep, La Vagabonde reached 22.7 knots boat speed. We couldn’t believe it. With a max of 28 knots wind behind us from about 120 degrees, we surfed down one wave and then caught the next one in front of that. Before we knew it we were all looking at a 22.7 on the nav gear. I had a close eye on the bows making sure they weren't going to bury, they looked like they might but Riley promised me that it was normal and fine!! Matthieu says we could have got 25 knots so looks like Riley will be aiming for that next time… I never thought I’d go this fast on a sail boat. Still in recovery from this wild experience. Very happy to still be here to tell you this tale, to be alive and writing this very description is a miracle. I love you guys, Elayna.

The Weirdest Rules of Switzerland
Every country has its cultural quirks and legal oddities, and Switzerland is no different. This affluent nation known for nature, neutrality and luxury has some peculiar rules that are as cuckoo as a Swiss clock.
1. Be Quiet!
It’s considered an offence to mow lawns on Sunday. In keeping with the noise complaint vein, don’t even think about slamming a car door or even flushing a toilet after 10 pm or you might just end up with more than scathing looks.
2. Legally Speaking…
See those large, yellow vending machines in Zurich? They dispense clean, government-subsidized syringes to heroin junkies. As for marijuana, it’s legal to use and grow it but illegal to sell it. This has resulted in approximately 100 tons of hash and marijuana used each year by around 600,000 citizens. Thank goodness they’ve got all that great chocolate and cheese to deal with the munchies.
3. Table for Two?
The Swiss animal rights code is pretty strict. Animals classified as social species—such as guinea pigs and parrots—will be considered victims of abuse if they don't live or interact regularly with others of their kind. By the way, it’s also illegal to flush a goldfish down the toilet there too.
4. Ready For War
Switzerland is well known for being a neutral state during the world wars, but that doesn't mean they aren't ready for combat. Switzerland’s gun ownership rate is among the highest in the industrialized nations (over 4 million guns in a population of 8 million), and they're prepared to defend themselves if need be. Despite the high firearm rate however, gun-related deaths are one seventh the number of those in the USA.
5. Break Glass…
Switzerland's military’s preparedness systems are outstanding. Not only are there fully-stocked bunkers that can house the entire population, but at least 3, 000 locations are ready to blow at the drop of a hat in case of an attack and the destruction of every major access point into the country is high on the cards. What about landing strips? Remove the highways’ grade separations and they’re all set!
6. I Challenge You!
Switzerland is the only country to practice direct democracy. If citizens can secure 50, 000 or more signatures against a law passed in Swiss parliament within a 100-day period, they can successfully challenge that law!
7. A Cow For Some Magic Cheese
The Swiss take their cheese very seriously. Leasing a cow to restaurants is customary for Swiss farmers, as it’s not only legal to do so, but all the cheese that is procured from the cow’s milk can be kept by the leaser.
8. Please Recycle, But Not on a Sunday
Don’t return clinky bottles and cans to public bins on a Sunday. A woman in Zurich was caught perpetrating this offence and was offered a choice between being fined or spending two nights in jail.
9. So What's Oddly Legal There?
You can legally download music and movies, no problem, just not share them. Prostitution is legal and so is assisted suicide. The Swiss are okay with public nudity, but draw the line at nude hiking.

Air Hostess Can Taser Passengers! - Korean Air
Get more Tips here! destinationtips.com
Cabin crew on Korean Air flights use stun guns to pacify passengers, according to an investigation by the BBC.
Allowing flight attendants to use w+apons on planes is troubling for various reasons - It could be easy to snatch the w+apon.
Also, if someone must be responsible for electrocuting flyers, surely it should be a licensed law-enforcement officer?
Although even the Police can get it wrong as what happened a couple of days ago in Bristol, when an officer tasered one of their own race-relations advisors in the face after mistaking him for a wanted man.
Officers with easy access to a weapon, will not always fire it as a last resort, sometimes even at the first sign of trouble.
So could you trust a flight attendant with such a dangerous weapon on a crowded flight?
Last year Dalian Atkinson, an ex-professional footballer, d+ed after being tasered by police in Birmingham, UK.
there is good reason to make sure that the person using a taser to dispense justice is not trigger-fingered.
In 2014 Heather Cho, the chairman of Korean Air's daughter, got served some poorly presented nuts.
She then assaulted a member of the team with a folder and forced the plane to turn back to the terminal and unload the hapless flight attendants.
She was later given a suspended jail sentence. Funny how they didn't use the stun gun on her though...

13 Creepy Abandoned Hotels Around the World
1. Grossinger's Catskill Resort - New York
Grossinger's Catskill Resort was said to have been the inspiration for the setting of the film Dirty Dancing, but the waltzes here have long been over.
There's nothing but eerie silence now in this hotel, which once welcomed 150,000 visitors annually and was abandoned in 1986, according to Business Insider.
The hotel, part of the so-called Borscht Belt location of summer resorts in the Catskill Mountains, was famed for being the first place to use artificial snow for skiers in 1952, the Daily Mail reported.
2. The Grand Hotel - Kupari, Croatia
Located in Croatia's Dubrovnik Riviera, the village of Kupari was once an idyllic summer getaway for the high-ranking military officers of the Yugoslav People's Army.
Today, the tourist complex lay in ruins, shell-scarred from attacks during the Croatian War of Independence in the early 1990s.
Photographer Ben Fredericson captured the images of the ruins of the hotel, now covered in graffiti and crumbling in disrepair, in the slideshow above.
3. Hotel Belvédère du Rayon Vert - Cerbère, France
Designed in the art deco style by the Perpignan architect, Léon Baille, and built between 1928 and 1932, the Hotel Belvédère du Rayon Vert in the French Mediterranean stands out from its surroundings with its imposing and luxurious ship-like appearance.
Closed during the Spanish Civil War, the hotel has never regained its former glory, according to the Telegraph.
4. The White Pines - Poconos Mountains, Pennsylvania
Photographer John Walker captured haunting images of an abandoned resort, located on 750 acres of land at the base of the Pocono Mountains in Pa., after a fellow urban explorer disclosed the location.
The resort was formerly a summer haven for garment workers in the early 1900s, according to Abandoned NY.
It featured a lake, a theater, a library and an abundance of activities to keep guests entertained.
Now, the front desk, bar and theater at the resort all lie crumbling and derelict. The theater and main building interested me the most, Walker told us.
5. Polissya Hotel - Pripyat, Ukraine
Once the home of 50,000 people, Pripyat was evacuated on April 26, 1986 after an explosion at Chernobyl nuclear power plant caused a radiation leak.
Pripyat shows no visible effects of the nuclear disaster, but the decaying city is still eerie.
Tourists head to the ghost town every year to witness the crumbling buildings, including the Polissya hotel, one of the city's tallest buildings, built in the mid-1970s to house delegations and guests visiting the Chernobyl Power Plant, according to Pripyat.com.
6. Sanzhi UFO Houses - Taiwan
The UFO houses of Sanzhi, named for their odd shape, were abandoned just a few years after their construction.
The owner went bankrupt before completing the houses, which were meant to be a tourist destination and vacation resort on the coast.
7. Ryugyong Hotel - Pyongyang, North Korea
A 105-story pyramid-shaped skyscraper in Pyongyang, North Korea, the Ryugyong Hotel reaches a height of 1,080 feet, making it the most prominent feature of the city's skyline.
Construction for the hotel actually began in 1987, and was scheduled to be completed by 1989.
8. Unfinished Hotel Complex - Cala d'en Serra, Ibiza, Spain
Located on the beach of Cala d'en Serra in the Spanish island of Ibiza, the abandoned, half-finished hotel complex by renowned Catalan architect Josep Lluís Sert, show no signs of the nightlife or party atmosphere that the rest of the island is known for.
The project, which started in 1969, was put on hold in the 1970s and abandoned completely after Sert's death in 1983 according to the Ibiza blog IbizaPhoto.
9. Courbefy Hotel - Courbefy, France
In 2012, Courbefy in central France made news when the entire village was successfully auctioned off for 520,000 euros (around $663,000 at the time) to a Korean-American photographer.
11. Maya Hotel - Japan
Perhaps the most popular haikyo (abandoned place) spot in Japan, the Mt. Maya Hotel was built in 1929, and housed anti-aircraft guns on the roof and suffered damage during World War II, according to Forbes.
12. Unnamed Hotel - Cap Skirring, Senegal
With its white beaches and mangrove forests, Cap Skirring in Senegal's Atlantic Coast would make a perfect summer getaway.
13. Abandoned Hotels of Bad Gastein, Austria
Known for its spas, thermal waters and a picturesque waterfall, the resort town of Bad Gastein in the Austrian Alps was once a booming alpine getaway, situated in a high valley of the Hohe Tauern mountain range.
