4. Rio IruyaIruya The Bermejo River is a river in South America that flows from Bolivia to the Paraguay River in Argentina. The river is generally called Bermejo in spite of its different names along its way, but it also has its own Native American names; in Wichí it is called Teuco, and in Guaraní it is called Ypitá. In the plains of Argentina's Gran Chaco the Bermejo forms wetlands and splits into two branches. The southern branch is the bed of the old Bermejo River, now an intermittent stream called Río Bermejito. The northern branch is now the main stem of the Bermejo and is called the Teuco River , Bermejo Nuevo, or simply the Bermejo River. The two branches rejoin at 25°39′S 60°11′W, near Villa Río Bermejito, forming the Lower Bermejo River. The Bermejo River is 1,060 kilometres long and has... From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Argentina's Northwest - Things to do in Salta, Cafayate & Purmamarca
I traveled to the Northwest of Argentina to explore the colorful valleys, taste the wine and to show you the best things to do in Salta, Cafayate and Purmamarca Related article:
The stunning regions of Salta and Jujuy are not as popular outside of Argentina but offer so much to see and do. I've heard of the Valles Calchaquiés and the Hill of the seven colors before but I was overwhelmed seeing it myself.
Starting in Cafayate I take you on a journey to both regions and introduce you to the wineries of Cafayate where the Torrontés is produced, I explore the Quebrada de las Conchas with its rock formations, I visit the Hill of Seven colors in Purmamarca at the Quebrada de Humahuaca and I show you around in one of the most beautiful cities of Argentina: Salta.

Again I was able to fly the drone to give you a scale of these impressive landscapes and I got some really nice aerial footage of the red Canyons as well as the vineyards and Cafayate.
Beside all those sights in Salta & Jujuy I recommend you to try the local food. The empanadas, the locro, the humitas and tamales are the most typical food and so delicious!

=== My personal recommendations for Hotels & Hostels:
JUJUY || PURMAMARCA || HILL OF SEVEN COLORS (Cerro de los Siete Colores) || MAIMARÁ || PAINTER'S PALETTE || HUMAHUACA || SERRANÍA DE HORNOCAL
After our journey from Salta, we spent the night in Purmamarca and decided to climb the mountain early morning to see the town from above, and witness the beautiful Hill of Seven Colors. It was so worth the climb!... It was magnificent! Little did we know, it was only the beginning...
As we traveled further north towards Humahuaca, we stopped at a little town called Maimara where the backdrop of a mountain called the Painter's Palette looked... like a painters pallet! The colours were numerous, vivid and beautiful.. OMG! we thought, this was even better than the last one!
It can't get any better than this, we thought...
But wait! Our jaw literary dropped as we drove closer and got a glimpse of el Hornocal. Is this real!?? Seriously, the most spectacular view we have ever seen! The multicolored mountains in Jujuy took our breath away...

From Humahuaca in Jujuy Province, John and Cara took a bus up into the Andes mountains and down to the beautifully sited village of Iruya. It is one of the isolated villages in Argentina and few tourist ever get there.

Salta to Cachi (and back): Argentina Travel Trip. November 2011
Salta to Cachi (and back): Argentina Travel Trip. Leaving beautiful Purmamarca, we traveled by bus in the capable hands of our driver, Pepe to Salta. Salta has a population of 700,000 and is a beautiful city with strong Spanish Colonial influences. We visited the Museum of High Altitude Archaeology which focuses on the Incas and their world, including an incredible exhibit of the mummified remains of three children and their belongings uncovered by archaeologists in 1999 at he summit of nearby Llullaillaco Volcano, one of 60 such sites in Salta Province. Our short stay also included a walk through town and a ride to a park above the city for an overview. From Salta,Pepe took us along the Cuesta del Obispo and into Los Cardones National Park. We had lunch in Valle Encantada and then went on to Cachi for the evening. Before returning to Salta, we went to Molinos and Seclantas to visit the Road of Artisans and the Guzman family, noted weavers. The Vicuna Foundation, dedicated to preserving and promoting vicuna wool, and the town museum were our two stops in Molinos.
