The Hungarian capital, Budapest, is situated on the banks of the Danube in Central Europe. It’s the political, economic and cultural heart of the nation, and one of the most beautiful and livable cities on the continent.
For a sweeping overview of the city head to the Buda side of the Danube and take in the views from the 19th century ramparts on Gellért Hill. Just upriver is Budapest’s oldest area, The Castle District, home to Buda Castle, Matthias Church and Fisherman’s Bastion.

After admiring the magnificent dome of St. Stephen’s Basilica, allow yourself to be swept up Andrassy Avenue. This world heritage listed boulevard opens out onto Heroes’ Square and City Park. The park is home to the Széchenyi Thermal Baths, just one of the city’s many lavish bathhouses. For many in Budapest, “taking the waters” is a weekly ritual.

☆Bits of knowledge〜Kinkaku-ji Rokuon-ji〜
Kinkaku-ji is one of Kyoto's leading temples. Its formal name is Rokuon-ji. It was built at the end of the 14th century originally as a villa for Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, the shogun at the time. After Yoshimitsu's death, as indicated in his will, the building was converted into a temple of the Zen sect of Buddhism, which is famous for the practice of zazen, or religious meditation (a major method of Buddhist training, and method of meditation for establishing one's foundation in Zen Buddhism). The shining Kinkaku (Golden Pavilion) is a symbol of Kyoto. This temple has been burnt down many times in the flames of war and other conflagrations, and more recently by arson, which incident has been made famous by Yukio Mishima's novel, Kinkakuji (The Temple of the Golden Pavilion). However, it was restored in 1955, with major improvement work being done on it in 1987, so that all of the gold leaf has been replaced. Recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage, Kinkaku-ji is one of the historical buildings most representative of Japan.

My husband is from Echigo Yuzawa, therefore I visited Echigo-Yuzawa at least 50 times :). In my 10. Japan Vlog I introduce Echigo-Yuzawa, a ski area which is one of the regions in the world with the most snow. Known for one of the best rice and sake in Japan, beside that, food, mountain vegetables, something very unique. This town is one hour from Tokyo (with the Shinkansen) and worth a day trip or even two. This time I photographed rice terraces (lots of rain). Something I always remember is the time when I visited (not this time) this little shop where they weave kimonos from silk and grass, so interesting.
I used google maps as a background for my Echigo-Yuzawa activity guide.

A new diner serving local cuisines from across Japan opened on July 10, 2015, under the elevated railway tracks between JR Akihabara and Okachimachi stations. All of the 14 dishes are loved by the local people of the originating area. Imabari Yakibuta Tamagomeshi, for example, is a bowl of rice topped with grilled pork, fried egg, and a drizzle of habit-forming salty-sweet sauce (Imabari-shi, Ehime). Namie Yakisoba features filling ultra-thick fried noodles (Namie-machi, Futaba-gun, Fukushima).
