Beautiful underground world with deep blue lakes. Ryusendo cave, Iwaizumi town, Iwate, Japan
Ryusendo cave, one of the three greatest limestone caves in Japan, well known for its most transparent underground lakes. The cave and the bats living inside the cave are both recognized as national monument.
Exploring the Blue Caves of Ryusendo
Hey guys. We're here in Iwaizumi Town in Iwate Prefecture at Ryusendo Cave. It's considered one of the Three Great Limestone Caves in Japan so let's find out why.
The entire network of caves runs about 5,000 meters (16,404 ft) but we can only explore 700 of them.
One of the most interesting points of the cave is the final lake, which actually goes 98 meters (321.5 ft) deep. You can almost see to the bottom of it—it's that clear.

One of the buildings in the former Trading Post of Dejima has been turned into an Archaeological Museum. I intended to do a fast in and out but it is fascinating - try to allow enough time.
A highlight is the beautifully carved pipes with a magnifying glass over them so visitors can see the detail. Incredible...
