North Jeolla Province or Jeollabuk-do is a province in the southwest of South Korea. The province was formed in 1896 from the northern half of the former Jeolla province, and remained a province of Korea until the country's division in 1945, then became part of South Korea. The provincial capital is Jeonju, which was the capital of all of Jeolla before 1896. Jeollabuk-do has the most fertile fields in the Republic of Korea and is known for agricultural production.

  • 2. Sunchang Gochujang Village Sunchang Gun
    Sunchang County is a county in North Jeolla Province, South Korea. It is located in a mountainous region of the province and is connected to the city of Jeonju by a modern double-lane free-way that was completed in 2011. Sunchang's claim to fame is its red pepper paste, or gochujang, which is supposed to be distinct from other recipes. The governor of the county puts his personal seal of approval on it to make it authentic Sunchang Gochujang. Famous people from Sunchang include Unification Minister Chung Dong-young, who was born there.
