Travel Vlog: GIRONA - The city of Roman times
About:
Girona is a city in the northeast of the Autonomous Community of Catalonia in Spain.
It is mostly known of its Churches, old buildings and most especially the wall build in Roman times.
The ancient cathedral, which stood on the site of the present one, was used by the Moors as a mosque, and after their final expulsion was either entirely remodeled or rebuilt.
The Barri vell and the Girona Cathedral have been the set of several films, e.g. The Monk and episode 10 of season 6 of Game of Thrones.

Girona Old Town Catalonia
Girona Old Town, Catalunya, September, 2013.
From the Pont de Pedra bridge you get one of the classic views of Girona with the colourful hanging houses lining the river Onyar and the Cathedral visible in the distance. Crossing this bridge we enter the Old Town with remains dating from pre-Roman times as this was an important strategic location historically where 4 rivers intersected. The river serves as the dividing line between the commercial, shopping and residential part of town which we are leaving and going into the historic centre with the Town Hall, Museums, public buildings, Cathedral as well as cafes and restaurants for visitors.

Catalonia: most popular cycling destination for UCI PRO cycling teams
For the last few years, Catalonia has become the most popular destination for UCI PRO cycling teams. They come to perform their training camps thanks to the mild climate, the network of quiet and panoramic roads with little traffic and excellent facilities. Many of these roads are the scene of important stages of the Tour de France and the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya.
Cyclist can ride and at the same time discover unique natural areas, visit little villages, taste the local cuisine and acquaint themselves with local traditions.
Catalonia is the ideal place for cycling! Enjoy the ride!

Cycling Girona Transcript:
Okay we're starting our trip today in Madremanya, we're going to do about 45km, we're going to stop for some food because food is very important in this region.
This is what attracts everybody to Costa Brava.
The scenery, the history and the food.
And don't forget the cycling.
Time to hit the road.
We're here with Jaume from BikeCat and having an absolutely wonderful day cycling just outside of Girona.
And you know, I'll tell you I completely love this route, but why do you think the route that we're doing today sort of stands out, and how does it differ from other routes that you do here in Costa Brava?
Well, I think this route has a little bit of everything. It's very scenic, we are riding through the countryside, very back roads, no cars and we go through all these medieval villages and I think it's very unique and a lot of people, they don't get to see medieval villages from the 12th 11th century.
I would say that if you are going to come here to Girona or Costa Brava, definitely jump on a cycling tour with Jaume, because it's the perfect way to see the countryside and experience a little bit of local living like we're doing now enjoying a nice coffee half way through our day, that's the way to do it.
Salut
Thank you
