LONGEST Humsafar Express | Bangalore - Agartala | 3545 KM | Indian Railways

Agartala - Bangalore Humsafar Express will cover a total distance of 3545 KM making it the Longest running Humsafar Express train and also the Second Longest Train connection to Bangalore with the North East India getting closer. The total Travel time will be 64 -65 hours one way. This Train is the extension of the already running Bangalore -Kamakhya Humsafar Express. The train is presently a Weekly Service and is expected to be a Bi -weekly Service as announced in the recent Rail Budget. This is indeed a New Year gift to the North East Indians of Assam and Tripura.

The Longest running Train from Bangalore is the 22501/2 New Tinsukia - Bangalore City ~Dibrugarh Weekly Express covering a distance of 3611 KM in 65h 35m .

Uzan bazar ghat, Guwahati

Ferryboat workers busy working at Uzan bazar ferry ghat in Guwahati, Assam. Most of the ferries of Guwahati primarily carry passengers, and sometimes vehicles and cargo as well. Most ferries operate on regular, frequent, return services. Uzan Bazaar is a residential-cum commercial centre of Guwahati and one of the oldest settlements in the city.

It is located in the northern part of the city with the river Brahmaputra flowing alongside in north. It houses some of the major tourist as well as sites of regional importance in and around its area. This area being the nearest of the residential areas as far as the river is concerned, is famous for its fish market of fished out varieties from the river. The name Uzan Bazar comes from the Kamrupi word Uzan, which refers to old settlement in the area located in upstream of river Brahmaputra. This area served as major river port in earlier times.

Neermahal (নীরমহল) (meaning Water Palace) is a former royal palace built by King of Tripura Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur of the erstwhile Kingdom of Tripura, India in the middle of the lake Rudrasagar in 1930 and was completed by 1938. It is situated in Melaghar, 53 kilometers away fromAgartala, the capital of Tripura. The palace is situated in the middle of Rudrasagar Lake and assimilates Hindu and Muslim architectural styles.

The palace is the largest of its kind in Indiaand the only one in Eastern India. There are only two water palace in India another one is the Jal Mahal in Rajasthan.

Known as ‘lake palace’ of Tripura, Neer-Mahal was constructed as a summer residence. It was Maharaja Bir Bikram Manikya Bahadur’s idea to build a palace in the beautiful Rudrasagar lake and in 1921 he accredited the British company Martin and Burns to construct the palace for him. The company took nine years to complete the work. Maharaja Bir Bikram Manikya Bahadur belonged to the ‘Manikya Dynasty’ which is supposed to be the second from a single line in the world today.

The palace is the establishment of Maharaja’s great taste and his fascinating idea of blending Hindu and Muslim traditions and cultures.

The palace is divided into two parts. The western side of the palace is known as Andar Mahal. It was made for the royal family.The eastern side is an open-air theatre where drama, theatre, dance and other cultural events were organized for the enjoyment of Maharajas and their royal families. The palace has 24 rooms in total.

Neer-Mahal has two stairways inside leading down to a landing on the water of Rudrasagar Lake. Maharajas used to go to the palace by hand powered boat from ‘Rajghat’.
