Slovenia in 2 minutes
Ljubljana is the start of my return to Europe. In October of 2015 I spent two weeks in Iceland and had an incredible time. I had been planning a European trip for a while but I wasn’t really sure where I wanted to go. It wasn’t until I found Alan X El Mundo, a Mexican YouTuber with a channel dedicated to travel. His highlight of Slovenia made me fall in love with the country’s natural beauty. After seeing his series on Slovenia I knew I wanted to drive through Vršič Pass and experience Soča Rocks. This is my adventure throughout Slovenia.

Slowenien-VLOG #3 - Portorož - Erste Eindrücke aus meiner Urlaubsstadt
15. Juni 2018:

Soca (Slovenia) Vacation Travel Video Guide
Vacation travel video about destination Soca in Slovenia.
The Julian Alps are rugged karst mountains located on the sunny side of the Alps not far from the Mediterranean, and are one of the wildest, untouched regions in Slovenia. The Trenta Valley is the source of one of the most beautiful rivers in the Alps, the Soča in Slovenia, becoming the Isonzo in Italy - that flows from a mountain cave. In Trnovo the river flows into a narrow white-water gorge and large chunks of rock, the result of various earthquakes, lie on the riverbed. Many tributaries feed the Soča, along with the Tolminka River whose sixty metre deep gorge can be seen from the Devil's Bridge. On a trail through the gorge are a variety of plants and insects which Dr. Julius Kugy, a mountaineer and writer, once recorded in meticulous detail. It is believed that famous Italian poet, Dante Alighieri, once visited the Tolimka Canyons while staying in Tolmin and that the locality inspired his vision of the Underworld in his, Divina Comedia. The largest stone railway bridge in the world crosses the pristine Soča which finally becomes, in Italy, the Isonzo River, situated within a delta in the Adriatic Sea.

slovenia skocjan caves
One of the largest known underground canyons in the world.
Examples of natural beauty with great aesthetic value.
Due to particular microclimatic conditions, a special ecosystem has developed.
The area has great cultural and historical significance as it has been inhabited since the prehistoric times.
A typical example of contact karst.
Škocjan Caves is, above all, a natural phenomenon of global significance, ranking side by side with the Grand Canyon, the Great Barrier Reef, the Galapagos Islands, Mount Everest, and others. Ranking among the most important caves in the world, Škocjan Caves represents the most significant underground phenomena in both the Karst region and Slovenia. Škocjan Caves was also entered on the List of Ramsar wetlands of international importance on 18 May 1999. Together with the underground stream of the Reka River, they represent one of the longest karst underground wetlands in Europe.
Explored length of caves is 6,200 m, caves have formed in 300 m thick layer of Cretaceous and Paleocene limestone.[3]
The Reka River disappears underground at Big Collapse Doline (Slovene: Velika Dolina) into Škocjan Caves and then flows underground for 34 km surfacing near Monfalcone where it contributes approximately one third of the flow of the Timavo River, which flows 2 kilometers from the Timavo Springs to the Adriatic Sea.[4] The view of the big river in the rainy season, as it disappears underground at the bottom of Big Collapse Doline, 160 m below the surface, is both majestic and frightening.
The exceptional volume of the underground canyon is what distinguishes Škocjan Caves from other caves and places it among the most famous underground features in the world. The river flowing through the underground canyon turns northwest before the Cerkvenik Bridge and continues its course along Hanke's Channel (Slovene: Hankejev kanal). This underground channel is approximately 3.5 km long, 10 to 60 m wide and over 140 m high. At some points, it expands into huge underground chambers. The largest of these is Martel's Chamber with a volume of 2.2 million cubic m and it is considered the largest discovered underground chamber in Europe and one of the largest in the world. It is interesting to note that an underground canyon of such dimensions ends with a relatively small siphon: one that cannot deal with the enormous volume of water that pours into the cave after heavy rainfall, causing major flooding, during which water levels can rise by more than one hundred metres
Sacre Coeur (France) Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Sacre Coeur in France.
The shining white basilica of Sacré-Coeur towers above Montmartre and across the famous Parisienne art district of the same name. It is located on a hill that is thirty metres high and provides a good view of both Paris and the River Seine. The magnificent basilica on top of Montmartre Hill can be seen for miles and is synonymous with Paris. Beneath Sacré Coeur is the former winegrowers´ village of Montmartre that, at the end of the 19th century, attracted several important artists. Montmartre’s exotic nightlife also gave it a special appeal and venues such as the Moulin Rouge have become world famous. Despite the district’s commercial aspects even today Montmartre possesses its own unique charm and a good measure of the atmosphere of bygone times. Even at night Sacré Coeur dominates the skyline above Paris’ vast ocean of colourful lights and thus confirms it to be one of the most striking and best known landmarks in Europe.

Italy is a unitary parliamentary republic in Europe. Located in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea, Italy shares open land borders with France, Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia, San Marino, and Vatican City. Italy covers an area of 301,338 km2 (116,347 sq mi) and has a largely temperate seasonal and Mediterranean climate. With around 61 million inhabitants it is the fourth most populous EU member state.
Since classical times, ancient Phoenicians, Carthaginians and Greeks established settlements in the south of Italy, with Etruscans and Celts inhabiting the centre and the north of Italy respectively. The Italic tribe known as the Latins formed the Roman Kingdom, which eventually became a republic that conquered and assimilated its neighbors. Ultimately the Roman Empire emerged as the dominant power in the Mediterranean basin and became the leading cultural, political and religious centre of Western civilisation. The legacy of the Roman Empire is widespread and can be observed in the global distribution of civilian law, republican governments, Christianity and the Latin script.
During the Early Middle Ages, Italy suffered sociopolitical collapse amid calamitous barbarian invasions, but by the 11th century, numerous rival city-states and maritime republics, mainly in the northern and central regions of Italy, rose to great prosperity through shipping, commerce and banking, laying the groundwork for modern capitalism.
The Renaissance began in Italy and spread to the rest of Europe, bringing a renewed interest in humanism, science, exploration and art. Italian culture flourished at this time, producing famous scholars, artists and polymaths, such as Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Galileo and Machiavelli. Since Middle Age, Italian explorers such as Marco Polo, Christopher Columbus, Amerigo Vespucci, John Cabot and Giovanni da Verrazzano discovered new routes to the Far East and the New World, helping to usher in the European Age of Discovery. Nevertheless, Italy's commercial and political power significantly waned with the opening of trade routes which bypassed the Mediterranean.
By the mid-19th century, a rising movement in support of Italian nationalism and independence from foreign control led to a period of revolutionary political upheaval. After centuries of foreign domination and political division, Italy was almost entirely unified in 1871, creating a great power. From the late 19th century to the early 20th century, the new Kingdom of Italy rapidly industrialised, although mainly in the north, and acquired a colonial empire, while the south remained largely impoverished and excluded from industrialisation, fuelling a large and influential diaspora. Despite being one of the main victors in World War I, Italy entered a period of economic crisis and social turmoil, leading to the rise of a fascist dictatorship in 1922. Participation in World War II on the Axis side ended in military defeat, economic destruction, and an Italian civil war. Following the liberation of Italy and the rise of the resistance, the country abolished the monarchy, reinstated democracy, enjoyed a prolonged economic boom and, despite periods of sociopolitical turmoils, became a major advanced country.
Today, Italy has the third largest nominal GDP in the Eurozone and the eighth largest in the world. As an advanced economy, the country has the sixth-largest worldwide national wealth and it is ranked third for its central bank gold reserve. Italy has a very high level of human development and it stands among the top countries for life expectancy. The country plays a prominent role in regional and global economic, military, cultural, and diplomatic affairs, and it is both a regional power and a great power. Italy is a founding and leading member of the European Union and the member of numerous international institutions, including the UN, NATO, the OECD, the OSCE, the WTO, the G7, G20, the Union for the Mediterranean, the Council of Europe, Uniting for Consensus and many more. As a reflection of its cultural wealth, Italy is home to 53 World Heritage Sites, the most in the world, and is the fifth most visited country.

Göta Kanal (Sweden) Vacation Travel Video Guide
Modern time wonder Gota Kanal in Sweden.
Gothenburg is Sweden’s second largest seaport and is located on the west coast and is the country’s military and economic Gateway To The World whose rapid prosperity came when the city’s merchants created their own East India Company in true Dutch style. We are going on a journey on the Göta Canal that travels from Gothenburg to Stockholm and is Sweden’s construction of the millennium, connecting the North Sea with the Baltic Sea. After crossing Lake Vättern we reach Borenshult, an important section of the canal with five lock chambers and a height of almost sixteen metres to overcome. This lock brings the history of the Göta Canal back to life, deep down below Lake Boren, and the joining together of the great lakes, Vänern and Vättern. We arrive at Heda where fifteen lock chambers follow and where we are able to disembark and walk along the canal among the wonderful natural landscape. Next the most spectacular section of the entire canal awaits us, the Carl Johann Lock, near to the small town of Berg with seven interconnecting locks that lead downwards, one after the other to Lake Roxen. Finally, Stockholm, the ‘Venice Of The North’. The Göta Kanal is a unique project that originally had a military purpose but which eventually was vital for Sweden’s trade and industry. A cultural heritage that ranks as one of the most famous engineering projects in the world.
