Flying over Ramathra fort in Rajasthan
Aerial view of Ramathra fort in Rajasthan.
Ramathra was granted as a jagir (fiefdom) in 1645 AD to Thakur Bhoj Pal by his father the Maharaja of Karauli. The name Ramathra honours Lord Rama, who, it is believed, camped here while on his epic journey to Lanka. Today, Ramathra Fort belongs to Thakur Brijendra Raj Pal and his family who are descendents of the founder.
The fort has a strong perimeter wall crowned with parapets. Its ramparts are wide and offer a spectacular view from the hilltop. Inside there is a multi-story palace, parts of which are being restored using traditional building techniques and local craftspeople. Stone lattices and a painted ceiling ornament the otherwise simple facilities. It was, after all, designed to be a battle fort.A complete walking tour of the Ramathra village, a small hamlet of farmers and herders, takes about 3 hours.

MONSOON Railways in INDIA : Koraput Rayagada Journey through Tunnels & Viaducts
Monsoon Journey through Hills & Forests of Odisha
Monsoon, I'm sure everyone will agree, is the best season to admire Mother Nature. Combine that to a train travel with a chugging ALCo, its sound echoing off hills, viaducts and tunnels in plenty and a some breathtaking landscapes; Koraput Rayagada section offers just that !!
I was fortunate enough to visit the section as a part of a mega-quadrilateral trip with my dear friend and senior Anindya Roy. This video was shot exactly an year earlier on board the 18006 Samaleshwari Express which was led by a Bondamunda WDM-3D that day.
The stretch from Koraput to Rayagada, 163 kms, can roughly be classified into 2 distinct parts. The initial stretch from Koraput to Tikiri, where the train glides through the lap of the Laxmipur Pattangi Range, past the elephant infested zones of Baiguda (the highest point of the stretch) and some beautiful green landscapes.
Post Tikiri, the descend to the plains begin. This is where the real fun lies. We encounter tunnels (36 of them) and viaducts at regular intervals (often back to back in short intervals). The Rayagada Kashipur Range, another part of the Eastern Ghats give us company.
The entire ghat section ends at Rayagada, or more precisely at Singapuram Road. Relish the concise compilation as I give you a glimpse of the above through my camera. However, this is just 1% of the real; please do visit this section to get a feel of what it really is like. I bet you wont be disappointed.

In 45 degrees Celius heat, May 2011, a tiger wallows in a water hole near Padam Talao at Ranthambore / Ranthambhor / Ranthambhore National Park, Rajasthan, India.
Ranthambore National Park or Ranthambhore National Park or simply Ranthambhore is one of the largest national parks in northern India. It is situated about 180 km from Jaipur in Sawai Madhopur district of Rajasthan. The nearest airport and railway station is at Jaipur and Sawai Madhopur respectively. The adjacent forests were declared the Sawai Man Singh Sanctuary and Keladevi Sanctuary in 1984, and in 1991 the tiger reserve was enlarged to include Sawai Man Singh and Keladevi sanctuaries.
The Ranthambore National Park is one of the best places in India to see the magnificent predator in the jungle. Tigers can be easily spotted even during the day time. November and May would be the best time to visit The Park as the dry deciduous forest makes great sightings at this time. Its deciduous forests were once a part of the magnificent jungles of Central India.
The park has many lakes and is situated at the edge of a plateau which is surrounded to the north by River Banas and to the south River Chambal. The historical Ranthambhore Fortress in the park is the reason behind the name of the park. Known for its tigers the park covers the area of 392 km².

• The Park is one of the greatest national parks in the country to spot a tiger, which can be easily spotted ambling or basking under the sun here.
• The safari rides of the park are prominently famous and to sight a tiger for sure people taken more than one ride to ensure the sighting of the tiger. The park area has been divided into numerous zones and the safari vehicles go on one of those zones.
• Built in the 10th century, the Splendid Ranthambhore Fort towers over the entire park area. It stands at the height of 700 feet, above the plain. There are three red Karauli stone temples of Gnesha, Shiva and Ramlalaji, constructed in the 12th and the 13th centuries.
