Αitoloakarnania - Main Land
The entire area of Aetolia and Acarnania has been inhabited at least since the Paleolithic era, as evidence such us tools made of pyrites have been found mainly near the lakes and rivers. Life continued during the Neolithic era as well. The first contact of the Aetolian and the Acarnanian with central Greece was due to the strategic location of the area on the sea-route Corinth-Corfu-Italy.
Under these circumstances the area got great cultural influence from Corinth, which established several trading activities along the coastline. The Athenian General, Demosthenes, invaded Aetolia in 426 BC, while by the end of the war the Spartan king Agesilaos invaded Acarnania in 389 BC.
Through these events a great hatred was created between the two sides. After the death of Alexander in 323 BC., the Athenians and Aetolians rebelled against the Macedonians, known as the Lamiakos war, ending in the victory of the Macedonian and Antipater. Unfortunately, the discord of the Greeks, allowed the active involvement of the Romans. The opposition of the Aetolians to the Macedonian-friendly Acarnanians, led to the signing of the Aetolian-Roman Pact in 212 BC.
Aetoloacarnania was a part of the Byzantine Empire from the 4th to the 12th century AC. Approximately in 1450 the west part of Central Greece was dominated by the Turks. In 1460 the last fort of Aetolian mainland, Aggelokastro, also surrendered. The revolution of 1821 was late to reach Aetoloacarnania due to the presence of great Turkish forces in Giannena. On May 5th, captain Dimitrios Makris attacked the Turkish outpost. The revolution is hastened, and Mesolonghi up rises on May 20th 1821. In April 1825 Kioutachis army siege of the last fort of the Revolution of Central Greece. His army was later on reinforced by Ibrahim of Egypt. The fall of the city with the Exodus of its Guards on April 10th 1826, virtually extinguished the flame of the Revolution.

The Multan region has been continuously inhabited for at least 5,000 years. The region is home to numerous archaeological sites dating to the era of the Early Harappan period of the Indus Valley Civilisation,dating from 3300 BCE until 2800 BCE.
According to Hindu mythology, Multan was founded by the Hindu sage Kashyapa.According to the Persian historian Firishta, the city was founded by a great grandson of Noah.
Hindu mythology also asserts Multan as the capital of the Trigarta Kingdom ruled by the Katoch dynasty at the time of the Kurukshetra War that is central the Hindu epic poem, the Mahabharata.Ancient Multan was the centre of a solar-worshipping cult that was based at the ancient Multan Sun Temple.While the cult was dedicated to the Hindu Sun God Surya, the cult was influenced by Persian Zoroastrianism. The Sun Temple was mentioned by Greek Admiral Skylax, who passed through the area in 515 BCE. The temple is also mentioned in the 400s BCE by the Greek historian, Herodotus.
Multan's urban typology is similar to other ancient cities in South Asia, such as Peshawar, Lahore, and Delhi - all of which were founded near a major river, and included an old walled city, as well as a royal citadel.
Unlike those cities, Multan has lost its royal citadel, as it was largely destroyed by the British in 1848, which negatively impacted the urban fabric of the city.
Multan's old neighbourhood homes exemplify Muslim concerns regarding privacy, and defense against the city's harsh climate.The urban morphology is characterized by small and private cul-de-sacs branching off of bazaars and larger arteries.
A distinct Multani style of architecture began taking root in the 14th century with the establishment of funerary monuments, and is characterized by large brick walls reinforced by wooden anchors, with inward sloping roofs.Funerary architecture is also reflected in the city's residential quarters, which borrow architectural and decorative elements from Multan's mausolea.

Multan
Multan is a Pakistani city and the headquarters of Multan District in the province of Punjab. Located on the banks of the Chenab River, Multan is Pakistan's 5th most populous city, and is the premier cultural and economic centre of southern Punjab.
Multan's history stretches deep into antiquity. The ancient city was site of the renowned Multan Sun Temple, and was besieged by Alexander the Great during the Mallian Campaign.
Multan was one of the most important trading centres of medieval Islamic India, and attracted a multitude of Sufi mystics in the 11th and 12th centuries, earning the city the nickname City of Saints.
The city, along with the nearby city of Uch, is renowned for its large collection of Sufi shrines dating from that era.
This includes Mausoleum of Baha-ud-Din Zakaria, Tomb of Shah Rukn-e-Alam, Shamsuddin Sabzwari Multani, Mausoleum of Shah Gardez, Mausoleum of Musa Pak Shaheed, Mausoleum of Hafiz Muhammad Jamal Multani, and Other mausoleums and tombs.
