Sri lanka tourism - Best Negombo beach hotels - Romantic asian places to visit
Negombo is a quiet town in the western coastal area of Sri Lanka, with a tourist strip to the north on Jetwing Beach. Its key attraction is proximity to the international airport. Formerly the haunt of budget travellers, rising hotel rates and luxury resorts (Jetwing) mean it now attracts an elderly European crowd for its yellow, sandy beaches and its relaxing and friendly environment. There are a few other tourist attractions, and decent opportunities for diving and water sports.
Katunayake International Airport (CMB) is closer to Negombo than the capital Colombo. Most hotels in Negombo arrange pickups. A taxi costs 1500 LKR, although you may need to negotiate to get that price.
Negombo being very close to the Katunayake International airport of Sri Lanka, it becomes first place for a traveller comes to Sri Lanka, before travelling around the country, they can have a nice relaxed time with lovely food, relaxation, sea plus hot sun and other entertainments like visiting the city, boat rides, etc. Also similarly just before leaving the county most of the visitors select Negombo to have a peaceful time before they take long journeys back to their mother counties.

There are many routes to the Roomassala Beach, the one we took was through the roomassala Wild Life Sanctuary which was a bit round about way. there is a shorter much easier route by way of stair way just before you come to the peach pagoda. the beach is a good place to rest and relax and take in the ocean scenery of Sri Lanka. There is also an well that sailors used in ancient times to supply the ships with water at the beach. this well looks like a pond now but there is a sign posted by Sri Lanka Navy to give information about the well.

Sri Lanka, The Netherlands Welcome Village
A very successful businessman in Holland from the fifties to eighties, Herman Steur, arrived in Sri Lanka in 1979 to establish a shrimp exporting company in the free trade zone. In stead he became a great philanthropist, helping poorest of the poor throughout Sri Lanka. The apple of his eye is the Netherlands Welcome Village for Roofless Elders, especially those living on the streets. The Welcome Village provides care, food, accommodation and a totally new life free of charge to roofless elders. Currently having an inmate population of 250 elders, a total of over 1500 such elders have been beneficiaries of his support since the inception of the Village in 1996.
Herman Steur passed away at the age of 82 on March 24th, 2012.

Colombo International airport is also known as Bandaranaike International Airport situated in Colombo the capital city of Sri Lanka. The distance between Colombo and Bandaranaike/Colombo Airport is 30-35 km, and there are mostly taxis and commercial buses running between them. It takes almost an hour to reach Bandaranaike international airport from Colombo city. Colombo is a clean and beautiful city.Our journey starts in Sri Lanka .
