Des restaurants qui servent de l'houmous au Proche-Orient, il y en a beaucoup. Mais dans ce restaurant-là, situé à Kfar Vitkin au nord de Tel-Aviv en Israël, cette traditionnelle purée de pois chiche a une saveur bien particulière : un goût de fraternité.

Kobi Tzafrir,, le patron du restaurant, propose en effet une réduction de 50% aux clients juifs et arabes à la condition qu'ils s'asseyent à la même table. Objectif : tenter de rapprocher les gens au delà des préjugés.

Abstract:
Born 1925 in Jerusalem. His parents were Zionists and made Aliyah from Yemen in 1904. Lived in Tel Aviv and were expelled to Alexandria. In 1918 made Aliyah again to Jerusalem. After a year, returned to Tel Aviv and lived in front of Hassan Bek. 1929 riots they were forced to be refugees for several months at a branch of the No'ar Ha'oved youth movement . Moved to Bezalel Market area, and then to the Yemenite Quarter. His father died in 1929. Went to Ahad Ha'am school. Good relations with the Arabs until the Arab Revolt, had Arab friends ,used to play together (17:30). 36 -39 riots, an Etzel memeber shot an Arab boy leading camels as part of a blood feud. Worked in the British Transport Police. Max Payne high school. Italian bombing in Tel Aviv. British Mandate, house searches (55:50). Was a member of the Scouts, information activities, dancing (59:00). Joined the British Navy in 1942 (60:00). Training at camp at St. Luke's in Haifa. Two weeks in a British military prison (68:00). Was assigned to guard the Haifa Harbor (69:00). Served as a navigator on a ship in Port Said (77:50).Alexandria, air force interception unit (78:13). Suez, moving training targets for the Royal Navy ships. Helped to protect the Jewish community in Suez against Arab riots following victory declaration. Festivities following the end of the Second World War. 1946, released from the British army (68:00). Returned to Israel, worked at various jobs and joined the Etzel. Recruitment process and service (91:00). November 29th declaration and celebrations in Magen David square, many casualties the very next morning (100: 00). Posted in Beer Yaakov against the army of Fawzi al-Qawuqji. Participated in Yehudia battle. losing the battle and casualties. Rosh Ha’ayin, his apartment was damaged in bombing (102: 00). Posted to get arms from the Altalena ship in Kfar Vitkin, as the Haganah began to shoot them ,ran away in order to not shoot back (103: 00). Was drafted to the Navy and was stationed at the beach Sidna Ali. Immediately received the rank of Sergeant and began to train soldiers. Sergeant major Course of the Navy Police. Menachem Begin (listen ; Hebrew: מְנַחֵם בֵּגִין‬ Menaḥem Begin, Polish: Mieczysław Biegun; Russian: Менахем Вольфович Бегин Menakhem Volfovich Begin; 16 August 1913 – 9 March 1992) was an Israeli politician, founder of Likud and the sixth Prime Minister of Israel. Before the creation of the state of Israel, he was the leader of the Zionist militant group Irgun, the Revisionist breakaway from the larger Jewish paramilitary organization Haganah. He proclaimed a revolt, on 1 February 1944, against the British mandatory government, which was opposed by the Jewish Agency. As head of the Irgun, he targeted the British in Palestine. Later, the Irgun fought the Arabs during the 1947–48 Civil War in Mandatory Palestine.
Begin was elected to the first Knesset, as head of Herut, the party he founded, and was at first on the political fringe, embodying the opposition to the Mapai-led government and Israeli establishment. He remained in opposition in the eight consecutive elections (except for a national unity government around the Six-Day War), but became more acceptable to the political center. His 1977 electoral victory and premiership ended three decades of Labor Party political dominance.
Begin’s most significant achievement as Prime Minister was the signing of a peace treaty with Egypt in 1979, for which he and Anwar Sadat shared the Nobel Prize for Peace. In the wake of the Camp David Accords, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) withdrew from the Sinai Peninsula, which was captured from Egypt in the Six-Day War. Later, Begin’s government promoted the construction of Israeli settlements in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. Begin authorized the bombing of the Osirak nuclear plant in Iraq and the invasion of Lebanon in 1982 to fight PLO strongholds there, igniting the 1982 Lebanon War. As Israeli military involvement in Lebanon deepened, and the Sabra and Shatila massacre, carried out by Christian Phalangist militia allies of the Israelis, shocked world public opinion, Begin grew increasingly isolated. As IDF forces remained mired in Lebanon and the economy suffered from hyperinflation, the public pressure on Begin mounted. Depressed by the death of his wife Aliza in November 1982, he gradually withdrew from public life, until his resignation in October 1983.
